supra steveo
on doing my blue LED dash conversion i removed the dial and needle when i realised i didnt need to remove it i put them back on it now reads 2,500 on turning the ignition on is there any way of getting it correctly back to 0 or is it a case of hit and miss? robin
I think the needle is lightly sprung. It wants to rest down at the bottom of the dial way below the pin it normally rests on. When you pull off the needle the centre pin is free to turn to wherever it wants so when you push it back on at the same level of the pin it gives you a silly reading. I would fit the dials without the plastic cover and start the engine the put the needle back on at idle rpm. Some needles will raise to zero when the ignition is on but not the engine. Dont know if the supra does this though.
Supra_dan
^^^^ What he said. I didn't that same thing with my rover coupe. In the end I plugged up the Rev counter and stuck the ign on and reset the clock to zero.
Konrad
Been there, done it. Take off needle, start engine, let it warm up and put needle around 700-800 rpm position. That's it. Other methods will be NOT accurate.
AdzC
Just found this thread on a search and thought I may as well resurect it. I've just fitted some new metal monkey dials and everything seems to be OK except for the water temp gauge doesn't seem to be working/or I can't get it right anyway. Can anybody help with suggestions as to what to do please?
