Joeatphr
Gav, I would recommend staying with the Red Coolant from Toyota, if you want to upgrade your thermostat then I would go with the TRD, keep in mind that they are getting harder to come by! gavin.starr
rito cheers for that my mate works at renault so he can get us siht loads of the red but not the green coolant for soom reason so that well good to hear. where about is the thermostat housed im totaly new to toyotas used to be a vauxhall man. is it near the top pipe where it comes out of the top of the engine? if u catch my drift
Joeatphr
It may be a bit different with the J-spec but if you will look where the piping goes off your Rad. you will see a pipe connected to the block that will house a thermostat. Pretty simple I would say to find! Cheers, Joe

Gaz6002
the thermostat is in the bottom hose, right near the alternator. It's a bitch to get at unless you take the alt off (if you have big hands like me). Also, make sure you get a proper seal when putting it back together or it will leak and thats the most annoying thing EVER! (I kept catching a small cable in there but couldn't see it) I'd change it for sure when changing the rad after my problems (new engine required!). Oh, and as stated, Toyota 4-life coolant (red) is the way forward. EDIT wooo 2000 posts lol
