Sheefa
I could start on the crucifiction but i won't..well for now:p Why would you think an Engine Dyno figure is a pub talk figure...? Its surely a more realistic power output than what a hub/rr would give.... Maybe im wrong? maybe most major car manufacteurs are wrong when they protype there engines??? Nice to see different points of view though. By all means mate if manufacturers use it as a basis for performance calculation then it must be right! I'm just saying surely the output of an engine isn't a true reflection of how the car performs on the road. If you can prove to me that the 600 rwhp you get equals the 600 engine hp on the dyno then I will eat my face. Of course, this won't be the case and thus I still think RWHP is a much more accurate figure of how the car will perform on the road/grip/acceleration etc rather than a lab-tested engine figure. Chris Wilson
My point is an engine dyno is a far safer and more usable tool for mapping then a rolling road or hub type dynomometer. It's also a lot more accurate as so many variables are taken out of the equation. Modern engine dynos will even allow a known sequence of driving to be mimicked on the machine, for example 20 laps of GP circuit, with real time gear changes and loads automatically included. I am not suggesting this for a MKIV engine and box, but just stating what the latest machinery is capable of.
