dangerous brain
Surely thats not good for the engine to run it that hot with no cooling air flow? Must have been after a race when the engine was coming out anyways???? Its a shame I wasn't allowed to video stuff at my job in the gas turbine test house. We used to take the chinook engine to max power switch off the lights and the final exit guide vanes would glow white hot so much that you could see the rotating turbine inside the engine
mikeyb10supra
quite remarkable and just goes to show the thermal stress cars with highly tuned engines have to endure....surprising there is no afterburning of fuel etc in the exhaust on lift off, maybe I just cant hear the pops and bangs over the sheer noise of the thing
Pete
I love the way the guy in the black shirt stands right next to, it arms folded in defiance. "I'm NOT sticking my fingers in my ears, I don't care how much they bleed!"

Chris Wilson
About 17,500 RPM and 840 BHP N/A, I think they called this demo the "guard dog" as the thing sounds like a barking, growling dog. It was put down afterwards...

On a serious note I am surprised they say that a rebuild comes in at £10K, I imagined it would have been more than that if the engine costs £100k. Wonder if that includes the "trackside support"? Next time I am passing I will pop in for one and tell them you sent me;)
