Cable
I would like to upgrade my PC and get a new processor, motherboard and graphics card so I can play games like Stalker quite happily. The problem is I want to use my existing 2gb DDR memory however, all new motherboards seem to be for DDR2. Do any of these DDR2 motehrboards have slots for DDR1 or would I have to bite the bullet and get some new memory too? or alternately could I just upgrade my existing processor and graphics card. What would be the best processor I could get for my motherboard? This is my current setup AMD Athlon 2200 ABIT NF7 motherboard GEIL 2gb DDR Radeon 9600XT 256MB DDR cheers for any help
Angarak
I would look at the 'upgrade bundles' on http://www.overclockers.co.uk, for example: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-037-OK&groupid=701&catid=339&subcat= You get a CPU, Mobo and DDR2 memory (the same parts listed can be bought cheaper elsewhere though). You'll also have to ensure your PSU is poweful enough to run the CPU and whatever Graphics card your going for.
China Man
and you can sell your memory at overclocker.co.uk forum too
DamanC
scrap your current rig and if you cant afford to, use your DDR memory on the DDR2 board and upgrade at a latter date

Gamer
do the DDR2 boards have slots for DDR? No. IMO, you should sell what you have on eBay and start fresh with parts that will take you a few years into the future.

Gamer
Easy answer would be to get a pre-built system. Would be much easier for you if you are not very computer savvy. Here are some systems to give you and idea on prices and selections. I would get a Core 2 duo or Quad core system if you can afford it. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?&groupid=43&catid=781&sortby=priceAsc

Gamer
Personally, I would choose the Intel system that is right below it for the same price. You could always replace the Intel chip in that system with a faster Core 2 duo or even a Quad core if you find you need more speed/power.
jase_93tt
With memory being so cheap these days, you might as well get the benefit of the faster memory and buy a few new sticks of DDR2
Cable
I like the look of this one http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-030-OK&groupid=43&catid=781&subcat=
Gamer
That is fine if you are hell bent on getting an AMD system. Intel is where it is at right now though as far as performance and upgrading for the future That case if great for air cooling, she will collect a bit of dust inside of course and I hope you like blue lighting as the two fans at the front and the one at the back have blue LED's.
