Supragal
Ok so we took 2 weeks off work to do some work to the house. 1 week in and we are miles behind schedule. Those that have been to my place will know it's artex hell and as it's mostly plasterboard walls it's quicker and easier to replace the plasterboard then plaster over the artex. However while we were at it we wanted to claim back a corner in the lounge that was the back of the wardrobe in the main bedroom, and also where the water tank was so we needed to move that too... I will update these as I go, but this is where we are at so far!! Anyone off work and bored? lol Original corner of lounge to 'reclaim' http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/1232/01loungecorneroriginalkt2.jpg Lounge corner plasterboard removed http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/9511/03loungecorneroa5.jpg Tank in original place, from bedroom side Internal hall coming down Internal hall down Pipes dug up Redirecting pipes Concrete re-laid over pipes Tank back in, not pretty but it fits! Oops, that would be an underfloor leak then! Pipes dug out, by hand this time, not funny to find leak. Turns out it was the kango hammer operators fault... Dot and dab wall coming down Last plasterboard lounge wall down, Stig confused! Pipes fixed and reset in concrete Dot and dab wall 1, done New stud work and door frame going up
Charlotte
Jesus, that's a lot of work! Is that where you live or is that the one you rent out?
Supragal
No no, we are "living" there. But the wet wardrobe means everything from there is on the bed so we are sleeping on sofa cushions (sofas are in the shed out the way!) on the lounge floor. Greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeat. Havard
Christ!! How can you live in those conditions?? My missus would have us all in a hotel at the slightest site of some mess! H.
Homer
Crikey! When you were explaining the plans I didn't realise just how much work there was to do! Did Jon do all the pipework himself? Oh and nice bodge job the original builders did on that arch
toyotasuprauk
Wow you are really going for it with that place! First thing I thought when I saw the cement over the piping was I hope they have checked there’s no leaks before cementing that. This is your new project then, nice. Supragal
Problem was we couldn't check for leaks without putting the floor down because the tank needed to be on top of the pipes. Darryl, yeah, all ourselves. We nearly wet ourselves when we saw the arch, no wonder they artexed, plaster would have shown how bad they were at DIY. It was the lezzers dad. lezzer lived there, daddy did all the work... badly... hense fixing the roof the other week too, there was evidence of an attempt up there too! Supragal
The annoying stuff was pulled back to get to the pipes.

Supragal
Pipes - we used what was left but left space around them with gravelly type stuff I suppose is the best way to describe it!
SupraStar 3000
4th pic down. I hope thats not a Club shirt I see on Jon. Club merchandise should not be used as 'DIY clobber'. Bad Rosie. Just think, If you had married me you and I could be living in bliss with my parents. xx Good luck on the house though. I'm sure it will be sorted in no time. Steve
The only reason i ask, is i thought they had to be wrapped in that horrible stuff to stop the concrete from eating away at the pipes over time.
Supragal
Only had half a day today, but lounge is almost ready to plaster. Lounge plasterboard up Dot and dab wall back up 'Reclaimed' corner and new doorway

It's not normal concrete/cement etc, it's not got the lime (I presume it's lime or something that does it?) in it so it's ok to go over pipes with apparently. Failing that, I'll have moved house by then anyway

Supragal
Builder? lol, na, just don't like paying people to do jobs we can Did a bit of kitchen and bathroom fitting for a while, and I used to be a decorater too but then I got into IT. Wish I hadn't looking back!! Plastering I'm hoping is going to be a doddle. Jons uncle is a master plasterer and lives about 5 mins away, and we must have fixed his pc about 8 million times this year so he's offered to do some of it. Main advantage there is that it will be perfect and done in about 5 minutes!! I prob won't be able to mix the plaster fast enough!!
