Project house

Ok so we took 2 weeks off work to do some work to the house. 1 week in and we are miles behind schedule.

Those that have been to my place will know it's artex hell and as it's mostly plasterboard walls it's quicker and easier to replace the plasterboard then plaster over the artex. However while we were at it we wanted to claim back a corner in the lounge that was the back of the wardrobe in the main bedroom, and also where the water tank was so we needed to move that too... I will update these as I go, but this is where we are at so far!!

Anyone off work and bored? lol

Oops, that would be an underfloor leak then!

Pipes dug out, by hand this time, not funny to find leak. Turns out it was the kango hammer operators fault...

Problem was we couldn't check for leaks without putting the floor down because the tank needed to be on top of the pipes. :(

Darryl, yeah, all ourselves. We nearly wet ourselves when we saw the arch, no wonder they artexed, plaster would have shown how bad they were at DIY. It was the lezzers dad. lezzer lived there, daddy did all the work... badly... hense fixing the roof the other week too, there was evidence of an attempt up there too!

It's a nightmare isn't it, but it look's like your doing well. The house i've been renovating was like that not so long ago. So far it's had..

Two chimney breast's knocked out,

New plaster on all walls,

New ceiling's in all room's,

New bathroom,

New door's, skirting and coving in all room's,

New central heating system,

A new roof,

New double glazing, (16 window's), and new door's.

The new kitchen need's to go in, and i've lot's of decorating to do. All good fun a ?. :D.

Good luck with the rest of your's. :)

The only reason i ask, is i thought they had to be wrapped in that horrible stuff to stop the concrete from eating away at the pipes over time.

It's not normal concrete/cement etc, it's not got the lime (I presume it's lime or something that does it?) in it so it's ok to go over pipes with apparently. Failing that, I'll have moved house by then anyway ;)

4th pic down.

I hope thats not a Club shirt I see on Jon.

Club merchandise should not be used as 'DIY clobber'.

Bad Rosie.

Just think, If you had married me you and I could be living in bliss with my parents.

;) xx Good luck on the house though.

I'm sure it will be sorted in no time.

I actually have a whole drawer full of my old work polos to use for decorating, so he changed as soon as I noticed!!!! :twak:

Silly me, I'll go kick myself now ;) :)

Builder? lol, na, just don't like paying people to do jobs we can :) Did a bit of kitchen and bathroom fitting for a while, and I used to be a decorater too but then I got into IT. Wish I hadn't looking back!!

Plastering I'm hoping is going to be a doddle. Jons uncle is a master plasterer and lives about 5 mins away, and we must have fixed his pc about 8 million times this year so he's offered to do some of it. Main advantage there is that it will be perfect and done in about 5 minutes!! I prob won't be able to mix the plaster fast enough!!
