heartworm
Ive got a buyer for my car, just wondering how exactly I would go about recieving the money, he has offered a bankers draft, is this a safe method of transferring cash to me or should I be worried? Never used it before and don't want a problem with cash.
Guest CoolsBlue
just wait for it to clear (anyway he pays except cash) into your account before you hand or sign the supras papers over, nothing can go wrong for you then:)

Jake
That's true and a bankers draught can be a forgery too. One of out members (Snowman Dave IIRC) lost his car to a forged BD and he wasn't even covered by his car insurance - because the car hadn't technically been stolen. Can this be taken back, even after the BD has cleared into your account? If not then I may have to insist on cash.
Gamer
I have heard people give advice along the lines of you and the buyer going to your bank with the bankers draft and having your bank confirm that it is legit.

A forged cheque will still appear to clear in your bank account but may be found out to not be genuine weeks later. A BD can be checked for authenticity in seconds at a bank. If you and the buyer go to the bank together and pay the BD in to your account before you hand over the keys/paperwork you will be safe.
