The mkiv Supra Owners Club

Another mini rant about Sky Insurance.

I think that this will be the last year I use Sky to insure the Supra.

I filled in the agreed value form, sent pics etc and filled in the value.

A few days later I get a letter back saying that the car will have an agreed value that same as the first year I applied and before any improvements etc were done to it.

This amounted to a drop of £1250 for one year. I assumed this was because at every stage they had gotten my current agreed value wrong so I asked them what the deal was.

It appears that they had submitted my application without making the underwriters aware of last years value and so they saw no need to add to it.

Anyway, it got referred and they've dropped it by only £750 this year!

I'm a bit annoyed about this and enquired as to the financial penalties of cancelling my barely 10 day old policy with them.

Just over £200 and no refund on the agreed value payment.

Robbing blighters!

So, basically, it makes no financial sense to cancel as the loss of £200 is greater than the difference between Sky and the cheapest other quote I had.

So, stuff them. I'm taking it for this year and then shopping elsewhere next.

Ah! It's 7 days after written confirmation is received. when was yours?

Distance selling and online trading

The cooling-off period and cancellations

When selling to consumers by mail order, phone, fax, Internet or digital TV you must give them a cooling-off period during which they have an unconditional right to cancel the contract.

In the case of services, the cooling-off period normally ends seven working days after the day the order was made - or after written confirmation is received.

Martin,

Speak to Jae mate, he is a great guy to talk to and could sort this out. Instead of fuming over it. I had problems with the Aristo Guaranteed Future Value but he sorted it out. Go to the main contact it does work, that is why he is there. pm UIG ask for Jae to call you, leave your number he will call you.

;)

OK for me with them

461 fully comp

agreed value 10000 :D, and the form was sent promptly - I also got my certificate straight away this year; I waited months last year

It does seem that their service is a bit hit and miss

I've given up woth Sky after paying over the odds last year and them being £200 more than the competition this year. With Adrian Flux now, still with european cover for free etc etc etc and most importantly still with agreed value included rather than an extra £72 as it now is with Sky!

Had 1 happy year, then 1 ok year, but am now quite dissapointed with the club insurer. :(

I was insured with them in my first year of supra ownership, but this year they couldn't be bothered to call me back after the guy on the phone said he couldn't give me a figure for this years premium  So after contacting thm twice regarding this matter and them not calling me back twice as promised I took my business elsewhere.

They shouldn't be the club insurer imo as the majority of their staff don't seem very professional
