squeeking on tick over

Could also be an indication of impending crank pulley failure, or slack auxuillary belt or the bearing on the alternator, ie any number of things.

 

Try and establish where the squeak is coming exactly and go from there, but i wouldn't leave it.

thanks guys it does sound like a belt squeek it doesnt go away when warm it ticks over at 600rpm if i increase the revs to 750 it goes sprayed a bit of wd and it was still there ,perhaps i will get a new aux belt see if that stops it .front pulley doesnt look wobbly at all just done my sons one and his was nearly seperated just been out to have another listen and its either the belt or the alternator, is a new belt a MR T item or can i get one elsewhere??
