Steve
When i get to about 80 mph i get a lot of vibration noise from the back end of the car. I thought it might have been my old tyres. BUt recently got my new alloys and tyres, had the car aligned so all is ok. But still get this vibration at 80mph. Any ideas?
250horses
Rear wheels may need rebalancing
Whitelightning
Might be suspension knocking. Is there any fluid loss on the back shocks ?
Steve
I doubt it would be the rear tyres as they have only just been done and as i said it did it on my old standard alloys, but still does it on my new alloys. How would i check the shocks? Idiots guide would be nice!!!
dangerous brain
Not all tyre places will pay much attention to balancing rear tyres as i was told "nah no point mate you cant feel the rear balance". Mine was way way off and after I had them re-balance them twice they finally sorted it. I had a very similar problem as well. Vibration started at about 80-85 and got bad up to 90 then after that went away.

Could be a knackered rear wheel bearing too, they seem to be a bit of a weak point on the Supra.
Steve
Are the bearings fairly simple to change? How much and where from? Cheers Guys
250horses
If the noise goes away after 90 mph its gotta be rear wheel balance. Get them super fine Balanced from a tyre specialist. If noise continues at +90 mph it could be bearings, prop shaft, diff, rear shocks, or low diff oil levels
Steve
Yeah the noise is only there from about 80 - 90 then goes away. When you slow down from 100 - 70 the noise is there. What tyre places are good for a very fine balancing cheers
250horses
Thats a tough one, here in Ipswich the best balancing machine I have found is at Trinity Tyres. Virtually all other tyre fitters here have cr*p balancing machines. Why not try another posting for Ntmptn Tyre Balancing Machines. Tyre balancing seems to be a service which is offered with very poor in-consistent results. A lot of these guys use old second-hand machines. On a powerful RWD motor, accurate REAR wheel balancing is critical, often forgotten about on FWD Mondeos, Astras, and Vectras.
Steve
The place where i got mine done has a new digital machine with screens on that tell you where to put weights. Will go down at the weekend again and get themto retest them. The noise is getting annoying now. I presume Kwikfit and the other bigger companies are a waste of time or am i lying. Anybody experienced them?
250horses
suggest U try another machine and compare
