SKI
I hit a pothole that was about a foot deep. This blew out my front passenger side tyre, fortunately no damage to the rim. The council has accepted liability, and I just have to pout the claim in. The problem is if I replace just one side will that have safety/cornering implications, the tyres on the front weren't that worn? The other point is... Obviously I will need my front wheels tracked/aligned after such a jolt. C.W Set my geometry so that the lowered condition didn’t cause undue tyre wear, do you think a jolt like this could upset all his good work? Cheers for the advice. The picture is the pothole It doesn't look that offensive in the picture, but trust me you wouldn't want to fall down it, it was bloody deep. Timwildman
your lucky the council will pay out, most dont care about this sort of thing. I would change both tyres myself, other wise your be forever having to change just 1 tyre as they wear out diffrently.
stt
being honest i cant imagine the council forking out for both tyres but all you have to think about is yeah so you replace 2 front tyres next time round when you would have had to change them both anyway and youve now got a good spare which you can keep or flog off to someone for a little profit to go in the back burner
merckx
I would replace both front tyres, but it is dependant on how much you have left on the good tyre. I had a split on the inside of my front tyre which turned out to be a manufacturing fault. The tyres were about half worn but Goodyear actually gave me an allowance of 65 % to replace both front tyres even though just one was faulty. Your council should do the same and pay for both tyres, it can be dangerous to have a brand new tyre with plenty of tread on one side and one with little tread on the other. Through no fault of your own you shouldn't have to pay a penny!!!!
