RedM
I've not seen this one before. Just thought I would share this with you, as you know I work in thespeeding fine department in Swindon's Magistrate's Court and in thecourse of my investigation into "fines, their paymentmethods, and howpoints are automatically added against drivers licences" we discoveredsomething very interesting "If You Get a Speeding Fine." This has beentried and it works I tried to send this to everyone I know. I know thatfor a fact is works so if you ever get in this situation, you have anout. We discovered that this procedure works nationwide. Read it andtry it, you have nothing to lose but the points on your license. This is how it works: If you get a speeding ticket or went through a red light or whateverthe case may be, and you are going to get points on yourlicence, thenthere is a method to ensure that you DO NOT get any points. When youget your fine, send in the cheque to pay for it and if thefine is say, £40, then make the cheque out for £41 or some small amount over thefine. The system will then have to send you back a cheque for the difference, but here is the trick! DO NOT CASH THE REFUND CHEQUE!!! Throw it away!!Points are not assessed to your licence until all financialtransactions are complete. If you do not cash the cheque, then thetransactions are NOT complete. However, the system has gotten its moneyand is happy and will not bother you any more. This information came to our attention from a very reliable computercompany that sets up the standard database used by each county'scomputing system. Sounds like BS to me. wallace9
I had that years ago. If it did work I'd be suprprised if they hadn't closed that particular loop hole
Gaz6002
IIRC this is just another loophole they've managed to cover by amending the law slightly. I could be wrong but i'm pretty sure when I got my SP60 it said something about this being against the law.
AlanM
Have heard this before, would not deliberately put it to the test but if in that position anyway ..............
Whitesupraboy2
if the loophole was kept quiet it may still work. But its been in the open for a long time so im sure its been closed.
Thorin
Old one that, it doesn't work. They'll just tell you your cheque wasn't correct and ask for another one. If you don't or just try the same thing again you'll be done for not paying.
kieren1234
I have a friend who did do this and completely got away with it but this was a year or so ago. Apparantly it will not work anymore.
Thorin
I have a friend who did do this and completely got away with it but this was a year or so ago. Apparantly it will not work anymore. I heard of this at least 5 years ago and it didn't work at Humberside Police, but then it could very well have done at other forces I suppose. Although I can't see how legally they could have cashed the cheque if it was for more than the requested amount.
tbourner
If it does work it's probably because they can't be arsed to deal with the people who try and get out of it in any way they can - they only go for the easy ones who pay up straight away - same as if you keep saying you haven't received anything in the post - eventually they'll give up. Trouble is sometimes (most of the time?) they won't give up - you might get lucky, you might not.
dazla
I've not heard of that one. It sounds abit far fetched to me. There no way the system will enable you to pull a fast one like that. Its something i will try in the future though, just in case:)
Havard
Maybe I should try it with my fixed penalty!! H.
