merckx
I've got the spats fiited to my car and the stone chipping on the offside has removed alot of the paint which doesn't look good. Can you get anything to protect the paintwork from stone chipping. I read somewhere a while back about a clear plastic film but cannot find it now. Any ideas? lovatt
this is a common problem, there are a few options 1, antichip coating under the paint 2, clear plastic protecting film 3, anti scratch laquer (not cheap)
SupraStar 3000
I had the same problem on spats and side skirts pluss staining under the doors from the rain. I bought some sticky back vinyl 3-5yr metallic (£10 per mt) from a local sign shop which is exactly the same colour as Toyota Silver and job done. CJ
Liam - Would the clear plastic film work near the exhaust? I am finding that the area above is discolouring badly
dude
Try some Tcut CJ !!!!!, the film is available fro Demon Tweaks but is not easy to fit , you have to warm it up to get it to go round corners . lovatt
the finish will be more orange peel over the antichip coating so it would be no good for front bumpers cj as dude said try t-cut if not it will need an ali plate leet sounds like you need the anti scratch laquer

Nick
Dude fitted some of that clear film to the inside of my Veilside rear spats and the front of the sideskirts (behind the front wheel). You don't notice it unless you look for it and it's done the job.

supraGZaerotop
my spats, right on the inside were mint, no paint damage, two days ago the council or contractors or whatever were resurfacing a part of bypass by me, of course its the only real way to my work, and didint really now and was forced to go thru, 1 stretch of road about half a mile long has wrecked my spats, stripped the paint clean off, was not impressed. all down to those little razor sharp chippings they use, how can they be allow to use when cars are on the road, il have to sand them down and have them painted now, going to also fitted some protection film, won't happen again. supraGZaerotop
right ive gave my spats a quick sand down, and have bought toyota super red, gave them a quick go, used a sponge, sprayed the paint on the sponge and just lightly patted in on, they look ok, carnt notice it now, would you lot be bothered about getting a perfect finish on the inside of the plastic spats or would you be bothered to put it in paint shop, guess they will get stone chipped, thats what they there for isint it.
