I can only echo the other good things already said :D Fantastic time, bearing in mind the appalling weather but being stuck in a large marquee made us all have to socialise :p

Hey, no one gave me any grief  :search: mind you I'd have kicked em in the walnuts :p

Tom S - top geezer! :trophy::salute::notworthy the right blend of discipline and fun ;) You worked your (damp) socks off from dusk to dawn and more than earnt your weeks holiday, lovely to chat to you Tom, enjoy your break :friends:

All the club members that made the effort to stay and suffer really made what could have been a disappointing wash out a great weekend  to everyone I met for the first time and those super folk I already know, a huge thanks for making my first JAE with the club a truly fantastic experience. Still didnt get the chance to meet and chat to loads others :( so roll on 2008!!

Japanese Auto Extravaganza 2007 East of England Showground.

Prelude

This year JAE started on Thursday the 19th July, this was the day Envy Performance worked all day to fix an oil leak on my Aristo, only for it not to be successful. So I sat outside of Envy at approx 7pm close to tears as my car wouldn’t be coming to JAE, and I might not be either. I was at my lowest ebb for quite a few weeks. I received a call from Ray’s the Roof telling me to come otherwise he would kick my arse next time he sees me and al the things you want to hear from a mate prior to a big event. To make thing better Gaz (Envy) told me he would pick me up the next day at 0630 to go to JAE. That night I slept a little.

Friday 20th July.

5am, wake up expectant, it’s the first day of JAE. Have a shower then get dressed. Post some stuff on the forum and wait for Gaz. He arrives at 0633 after driving past my street, worried already. With his brother’s help (Paul) we pack my stuff in the van and off we go. High spirits as we are off to JAE. As we are travelling down I send a message to all on the club that I have numbers for and I get a few replies to say they are on the road too, (at this point Ray(‘s the roof) is up and Ian ® is still in his pit snoring!!). Three hours or so later we arrive at the East of England Showground, start to unload the Envy tent and the heavens open up a prelude to more in the end. We build the Envy tent as the guys come and erect the Club marquee, (Gaz decides might be easier to book these guys next year) as we finish the Envy tent the first Supra arrives Kn1ght and Suzy, haven’t seen them since last year. Meet and greet then back the emptying the van as we will need this to buy supplies later... Whilst this happens the first convoy arrives with the NW peeps. Well we had heavy rain for most of the day and people put their tents up in the rain. It was funny and sad as everyone got soaked. As the Marquee was up it was a nice meeting place for all and the heaters made sure everyone could dry off.

When we had emptied the Envy white van we proceeded to Tesco’s Extra with 4 Supra’s behind, to buy the supplies for the weekend. After getting there and going in we discovered that Tesco’s had messed up the order, but after sorting it out and going to get some extra supplies (Spirits) the bill in Tesco came to £1038 and change but we had 50 cases of lager, some spirits, some mixers and some others bits and bobs. Shytot had done his chilli shop too and it was all in the van. We send some of the Supra guys back for extra bread buns then Gaz and I went to Bookers for the food supplies. Meanwhile the campsite and a quarter of the marquee was flooding, more later. Off to bookers and Gaz and I bought another £500 worth of supplies and headed back to the show. When we got back everyone worked as a team and handballed the stock from the van into the marquee. At which time the fridges were stocked with lager, cider, coke, diet coke, burgers, sausages, bacon, mixers, spirit and confectionary. I forgot the bitter and the cheese oh and the redbull. Shytot and Rob Wild went off in search of those items and brought back everything but the cheese.

By about 6pm the lager was flowing and the burgers had filled a space, Ray, Colsoop and Ian R thanks. The bar had been ran by Mike & Steph (Mr & Mrs Pixelfill), Mike & Kate (Mr & Mrs M5WTT) and virtually every one else who was available. Shytot starts to prep his chilli and the weather was being forgotten. Late arrivals were welcomed and lanyards/wristbands issued, Mike (pixelfill) I owe you a real big thanks for the weekend you worked tirelessly to help me make sure it went to plan. If there was an award for member of the show it would be you, always thinking of the club and 1000% focussed on helping anywhere, a real star, and same goes to your missus.

The chilli was served around 8ish and was absolutely scrumptious, everyone wolfed it down and I asked for thanks from all for Ian for his efforts and the lovely food. We worked on through the evening and the lager went swimmingly. Praise to the members who worked the bar and laughed all night. Ian R brought across a couple of bottles of Jagermeister to add to the redbull and the drinking silly drinks contest started. Towards the end of the night Dave (Supraloopy) and Gethin (Cadbury’s Purple/pink/black/pissed/etc) were working hard both were a little tipsy so one by one I asked them to leave the bar and carry on drinking. They were hard workers and Dave was so pissed when asked to leave me made a fuss (not unusual, and he would be told how much the next day by someone else). As the night approached midnight we shut the bar and gave out a couple of cases of lager to help the peeps out. We re-stocked the fridges and locked down the marquee for the night. Ray, Colin & Ian slept in the Envy tent and the rest just partied on. I collapsed weary and sober, to sleep till Saturday. There was loads more but feel sure it will be added by others. Friday 40 odd Supra’s

Saturday 21st July.

Saturday started early with Ray on the BBQ before I even woke up. It was not long before I had to walk around and announce the breakfast was cooking. Then we asked for show and shine entries and 6 of the guys went in. They started cleaning there and then. TBH there is loads more and I am tired still will finish this later.

A very big thank you to all the people who planned this event and for all the previous ones, it took a lot of time and effort to plan, and now they going to start again for next year. It was great that so many members turned up to show their support for what had to be and was suitably awarded the best stand this year. WELL DONE ALL.:more::clap:

See you all next year.:)

:D:d:d Wicked weekend !! shame the weather wasnt good to say the least but it all made JAE 2007 a memorable one :)

Great to see some new Faces, the Name Tags worked great, was good to catch up with some peeps from the last years too,

Friday putting the tent up was an experiance i think if we had put them up in a swimming pool we wouldnt have got any wetter  glad we had the Marque to shelter and dry off a little tho !! pity we didnt have Sundays weather all weekend

Saturday went in a bit of a blurr really had a walk around seen some of the stalls had a good chat with Andy off the Sumo stand about the Do-Luck Supra, then Jon ( Pig ) took me to Tesco,s in his Voyager sleeping area and had a Race with a Evo Mkiv which was fun and scarey all at the same time :woot:

the show and shine was a travesty how not one of our cars didnt get through ! Both Gaz,s and Waynes should have walked it but when you get a judge asking a MR2 owner to pop the bonnet (standing at the front ) to see the engine speaks for its self !

Sunday with the better weather was great and seenng the convoy all arrive was great and got alot of looks from peeps too. Riks Rev/sound off went very very well RIP mate ;)

Congrads to the Trophy Winners you all was well deserved and well chosen the "mods "

had another small walk around after cleaning the soop, by this time the weekends beer and fun was taking its toll and the rest of the day there was just a blurr then i remembered i brought a camera !!!!!!! so some hasty photo,s was taken before the journey home,

A BIG BIG thanks to Tom for the organising this and the "Best car club stand " is down to his efforts, Mike ( Pixelfill ) and Steph who worked tirelessly throughout the weekend, Ray, Ian R and Colsoop with the BBQ and many others on "Bar duties"

Thankyou all for your comments on the Chilli,s and Curry,s and the cheers afterwards was nice even if embarasing :blush:

Have to agree with the comments about the women, the odd coment is fine but the persistant few started to get on my tits. Actually i tell a Lie, had we have not been camping as one big happy family i would have wrapped my billy bat round someones head. They know who they are.

Must have missed that? :search:

was a good weekend, hopefully next year it'll be sunny throughout!

Oops! :flame::D I thought Tom was going to kill me when he came storming across the field saying we were all going to get kicked off the campsite!!:angrymod:.. sorry :innocent: Good job the rev limiter was only set to 4000rpm :D

Nice to put some more names to faces & I can’t wait until next year! I’m gonna try and remember wellies though!!

I find your calling me immature offensive Brian. I got kicked off on and i'm to blame? i shouldnt have retaliated but i was just standing there minding my own business when it happened

I really don't care who started it or the precise reasons behind it Matt - you're both supposed to be grown ups yet you end up having a punch up.... immature in my book, especially over some random you picked up en route to JAE for whatever reason. There's a time and a place for that stuff and it aint JAE
