Some forces get twitchy about visible tatoos. I would suggest submitting a photo of it with your papers if you decide to apply.

Not alot of forces are recruiting Police though, just Community Support Officers and that's not a guaranteed method of gaining entry to become a PC.

No harm in giving it a go though.

i was going to get in but droped out i figured as my height is not that tall i will be dealing with bigger and taller blokes than me :(

that's an awful excuse.

there will always be someone bigger than you, i'm sure you're not so small you'd need to worry about it.

how tall are you then? :D

Don't worry about size. We hardly have a problem with that.

Baton & captor (pepper spray) can make it a very level playing field... or even well in your favour ;)

Even the biggest guys shy away from captor cos it stings a bit!

i bet my security manager was telling me some storys about that stuff i does the special constable stuff on the weekends, hes the one giving me the idea to go into it, mainly because i want something challenging and career oppotunity's. if i stay here in 10 years time i will STILL be a security officer! if you know what i mean??

Better to be able to actually talk to people than fight with them!

Never had to use captor personally, and only baton once as the bloke was charging at me totally off his nut on drugs.

Good police officers don't get assaulted is my motto ;)

My Mrs is joining in October. She's not strong at all, but I feel sorry for anyone having a go at her! :taped:

well thats the thing, your right there!! i work at claridges hotel so thats all we do is talk! its only got a bit messy once. but your right its always easier to control a situation with words rather then fists! in a way it makes it more rewarding when a dangerous situation is calmed down with no violence....if that makes sence??

Go for it mate, good luck to you. :)

I wanted to join my local police force but was told i'd not be able to join their armed response unit due to my military background, ( I was told this by a police officer I spoke to). That was what I would of liked to have worked towards if i'd joined. I know there are other things to do in the force, but that kinda put me off a bit. :( . Maybe I should re think.

That's a load of bull.

One of my mates has just joined firearms and he was army for 8 years.

As long as you can adapt to their way of doing things and forget whats been drilled into you in your previous life there's no problem.

I was told the Met would take me, but the Kent constabulary wouldn't. Do differant regions employ differant rule's ?.
