r1george
My car is showing the bulb out warning light but I've checked even bulb in the car and they all work with the exception of one of the LEDs in the boot lid brake light. Could the system detect this?? is there a way to replace the broken LED or is it a complete replacement light. Also as I'm on the subject of warning lights, I've just painted my dash and put it back in the car, now the air bag light is illuminated!! any ideas??? Have you driven the car whilst the ODO was unplugged? I believe that this is the cause even if it was only a short distance. There is away to get it off but cannot remember what search words to use. kieren1234
Mine does this aswell but not all the time. Its really annoying because it always makes me think my lights are out. Anyone know a way of sorting this??
ShamelessTT
Did you disconnect the battery when you removed your dash? if not that will cause your air bag light problem i think.

No I didn't disconnect the battery but if I disconnected it now do you think it would reset the system?

Anyone know a way of sorting this?? I think mine is the brake light but not 100%. I do know that if I start the car and drive off with out touching the brake the warning light stays off but as soon as I brake for the first time the warning light comes on. TrickTT
Re check all the bulbs, as it will show up a fault if a bulb has been put in the wrong way round. Also what sort of fog light do you have as a bad foglight conversion will cause the bulb failure to trip. Failing that, its probably the bulb failure ecu itself, which is mounted in the n/s rear wing near the courtesy light in the boot.
Mike_Mac
To reset your airbag light look here: http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/airbag_light/airbag.htm Far better than the previous owners solution of removing the bulb.
Havard
Mine has been like that since I got the car 5 months ago!! I like it tbh, makes the dashboard more interesting!! H.
r1george
has anyone tried the airbag reset method?? Does it work?? Also going back to my original question, would a LED not working cause the bulb out warning light to illuminate???
Supra ST Myster
as above it will be to do with your foglight conversion.
r1george
as above it will be to do with your foglight conversion. I might agree but I've had the car 3 years and I bought it with the fog light already fitted. The warning light has only been annoying me for about 6 months. Supra ST Myster
also the LED being out would not cause the bulb failure to come on. Basically have you checked to see if all 4 tails work, and when you brake that all 4 go to full brightness, as if they dont then thats when it will flag up as a fault. r1george
Sir you are a star. I didn't know that all 4 tail lights were also brake lights. By pure luck both the outside brakelight bulbs had blown. Even the MOT guy didn't pick it up (last week). As I said your a Hero. Only got to reset the airbag light now and no more warning lights, shame really I was getting use to them LOL:d
Mike_Mac
has anyone tried the airbag reset method?? Does it work?? No it doesn't work - I only posted it up for the Hell of it!! Unless there is a genuine fault with your Airbag system it will work.

Sorry Mick wasn't trying to trash your solution just wanted to find out some feedback to it I've got the Workshop manual on CD and your solution is on there as a method of resetting the system. I'm going to try it today Thanks for the info though:D
Mike_Mac
No probs - I found that method only after giving some 'diagnostic expert' £60 to tell me there was a fault with my A/B. He'd been using the wrong terminals! Took me 5 seconds and it's worked fine ever since.
Guest nickbirt
Guys, Im in the same situation, wrg lt comes on as soon as I move out of park, regardless of if Ive touched the brake pedle or not. Ive been to the rear lights and can see that the outer 2 are both functioning as stop/brake lights as is the left hand inner but the right hand inner is rigged as the fog light, operated by an aftermarket switch on the dash. Im getting the impression there should be a relay somewhere in the loop but cant see if there is one fitted or not. Is this likely to be the cause of the warning light? Also I can see that the green/white wire going into the inner stop tail has been cut, presumably linked with the spot light conversion. Any idea's on how to fix this annoying light? Cheers
Tricky-Ricky
Mine has done this ever since I've had it, i am pretty sure that its down to the fog light conversion, ie using the existing lights, not an add on one, there is a post about a fix for it knocking around on here somewhere,. i just haven't got around to sorting it yet, only 18 months:innocent:

Cheers It sounds like you've got something similar to what I initially had set up, ie a 12v feed going from the dash switch and cutting straight into the green/white feed to the light, except your only cuts into one of the lights. This is something I've looked at in great detail recently when I re-wired my fogs and dashboard and the best thing to do out of all the solutions out there is to wire your fogs as per Pete Betts' diagram with 4 resistors in the circuit also. This gives you two fog lights and no bulb blown warning. Pixelfill wrote an excellent How-To on this, so search for threads started by him about fog lights. It's simple enough if your methodical and check each connection as you make it. EDIT: Found it: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=80479&highlight=fog+Lights I've just finished mine and have also wired in a UK switch that lights a warning bulb next to the oil warning lights, but that's a whole extra level of hassle unless you're a picky bugger like me!
