hadyn
Earthing kits, one of my fave subjects as Ive now fitted em to every performance car I've had Ive just fitted a kit to my Supe today and although it doesnt seem to start any better, the throttle response has improved, it idles better and the stereo is a lot louder/crisper. Its a strange kit ive got though. It has 3 wires going to one connection from a junction box, the junction box then splits into other cables with connectors. Ive connected the 3 wire to the earthing point at the front of the car, and the other seperate wires have gone to various earthing points around the car and battery negative. I think I may have put it the wrong way round? Would it be better to have the 3 cables going to the negative battery terminal?

hadyn
Tell you what, my car does feel revitalised. So much more responsive. I know I could have got the same results cleaning the earth points (so im told) but I didnt pay much for these wires and they appear to be having an effect

Clarkey
why would a respected company like HKS produce a kit like this if it has no benifit?, Why not ? They made the HKS Mushroom induction kit. Which has the filtration ability of cotton wool for a street-setup. or is it just to supply the guys like me who seem to bolt on any additional weight if it is shiny Possibily. Personally, I would say your wasting your money blinging an engine bay up. I'll agree it looks nice. But that's all it does. Furthermore, what's the point of it ? The bonnet is closed on the car most of the time. You can only revel in your bling when your parked up. I'll agree bling is appropriate - if you've got a show-car .. or a flagship for a company. What possible advantage does it have over stock ? Erm - lemme think. One's shiny & the other isn't. If the stock one is being dodgy, give it a clean - or replace it with the cheaper stock item. I'd wager a brand new stock one vrs one of those HKS ones .. has little difference OR the stock one is better. Spend your money on something more functional - like a decat pipe, suspension or brakes. Terminator
I had to run 15mm core earth cable from the boot to the head, as part of a series of measures of insisted upon by tech support an after market ECU manufacturer, to who whom a warranty claim was being made. I knew it would have absolutely no impact what so ever and it did not when tested. I make this point because the request was made by a manufactuter, who should have known better. The only thing we gained was quite a few extra kilio's of copper. The whole of the car body is an earth, so no wire or cable will improve on that. Any earthing problems in a car will normally always be down to poor connections/corrosion. Nothing a quick rub with emery paper wont cure. However there is always the £££/perceived improvement factor that has to be added to the equation, the more it costs the greater the perceived improvement. Earth kits are totally pointless unless you like bling.
Ian C
the throttle response has improved, it idles better and the stereo is a lot louder/crisper. It always makes me laugh when those three are wheeled out I reckon we should bag your car at JAE, blindfold you, and then remove/put back the earth kit several times at random, and you have to tell us each time, using the power of your ears on the stereo and the idle, if the earthing kit is still fitted or not... -Ian
