razza
Just had some -ve battery wire replaced and they mentioned I could benefit from an earthing kit as the connections I have are a bit corroded. Has anyone used these before, and if so what make etc. and did you notice the difference?
AlanM
Nope, just clean up the connections you have. Do a search, fair bit said about it already

tooquicktostop
Waits to get flamed ! I just purchased a HKS Earth kit, more because I am like a magpie and like shiny things !!, but why would a respected company like HKS produce a kit like this if it has no benifit?, or is it just to supply the guys like me who seem to bolt on any additional weight if it is shiny

b_have
The red earthing kit makes you go faster...... That is, quite frankly ridiculous. Red ones are known to be slower due to ionic transfer and cohesion (except Saxo's)

razza
You guys crack me up:rolleyes: I did do a search but only got a few wise cracks back, similar to the above to be fair:p, but none seemed to have a proper explanation of how it works better, hassle it can save cleaning old connections (i.e. how many are there, where are they located etc., how long it work actually take to do this), and whether the benefits are noticeable to everyday driving:search:

TrickTT
The red earthing kit makes you go faster...... Didn't think you could get red ones, only pink:p Seriously though, they dont make any difference over good stock earth points, but they look bling and won't do any harm. Gamer
I had a kit on the Orange car, took it off and there was not one bit of a difference other than my bay looked a bit cleaner.
Tricky-Ricky
this thread is in technical, please keep it technical as this question needs answering properly. JB OK:) The fact that most earthing kits consist of larger section wire, may provide a slightly (and i mean slightly) better conductivity due to slightly lower resistance between the engine parts and the battery, the only other reason for any perceived improvement would be if the std wiring and earthing points where corroded, and so providing more resistance to the earthing paths. Other than that there is no possible improvement over std earthing.
razza
Thanks, I'll not bother then unless I notice a lot of flicker on my lights or anymore issues with starting it. Wouldn't go for the bling option as not actually that keen on something that looks like an octopus stuck on the battery...
