the gf and I were talking about kiddies the other night and the inevitable happened ... how would we deal with a small child and a supra ? car seats don't seem possible and using my nephew as a test subject once he gets past the age of five i will need to chop his legs off.

How do others manage ? given that we both love hooning around in the car is it a case of going to the dark side and getting a scooby ?

It is very difficult if you just had the Supra. Me and the wife ran 2 Supra's and an old 328 for a while but in the end it just cost too much. So now I have the Supra and Vic has the DC5 which is a great family car as it is huge in the back :)

If I go out with Tom in the Supra then he rides shotgun as there are no airbags in my car.

My six year old fits fine in the back.

I find that my lad who is 3.1/2 (but the size of a 5 year old) fits fine in the back, but if my wife comes with us then it is just not practical. She is 5'10 and finds it very cramped in the front when the seat is pulled forward to give Tom just enough room to fit his legs behind the seat.

The wife went to the Scooby after her Supra and at first thought it was fine. Then after a while she just hated it and decided to go for the DC5. The Scooby was obviously pretty grippy and fast from standing but after that initial surge it was pretty rubbish. Feels really really cheap inside the cabin too. The other thing I would say is that every time we went over 100 leptons it just didn't feel safe and secure. The Supra and the Teg feel much better at high speed IMO and that was one of the things that ruined the Scooby for us.

couple of options, 2nd car, scooby, all good.

my choice was have no kids :D keep the supra ;)

next option is to remove the rear seats, and custom fit the baby seat in the back. Once old enough, switch the baby seat to a custom race seat with harness!!

My son is a year old now, and up until last month, the Supra was our only car. The back seat was absolutely fine for both a rear-facing and front-facing car seat.

The reason we got the Aristo instead was because of storage space for all his stuff, not room for him himself.

For rear facing, we also had the Mothercare Urban Detour!

In the back seat, behind the passenger. The belt won't hold it particularly securely, but if you put the passenger seat tight down onto it when you tilt it back down (you do lose a couple of inches leg room for the passenger, mind), it's locked into place firmer than a very firm locked thing - there is no movement in the seat at all.

Front-facing is a bit trickier - we got a Maxi Cosi Tobi in the end. Wasn't a great fitting, but it only had 1 or 2cm movement when given a firm yank, though, so it was safe enough.

Aristo every time for me. Scooby is just too chav in the UK. Like others have said its not just the sprog its the oodles of stuff that comes with them that causes an issue in the supra. You can swap all the good stuff from the supra to the aristo and the tuning is almost the same. I can't see you getting over 400 horses from a scooby for about £5k either.
