Tom
Why do people buy the car THEN think about insurance? I don't think you'll get any lower than 3k imo, i'm suprised you even got quotes back, I guess you can try to go under a parents name? it's gonna be a struggle though! and welcome. penguin
guys bear in mind places like confused etc etc DO NOT provide online quotes for j-spec/imported cars - i very much doubt you will get anything under 3k! worth giving elephant a phone call.. CarlM
i would make sure its covered properly - i.e. if its an import i'd double check the details for that price dude It was a UK spec, thats probaly why its quite cheap right?
penguin
It was a UK spec, thats probaly why its quite cheap right? correct - as a rule of thumb in my experience jspec is about 3 times as much to insure as a uk spec
slow_matt
3rd party only ona supra, thats asking for trouble that. Under a perants name is the best option good luck I think buying a supra at 19 is asking for trouble, insurance companies realise this and I'm guessing that most wont want anything more than TPF+T On the second point that would be considered a fronted risk and would cause him troubles if he had to make a claim. Most companies are now wise to this and no longer offer these policies for the very reason that having it under a parents name does not make the highest rated driver a better risk so why take less money. Doing this pushes up the premiums for everyone else!
maxaerott
I bought my j spec aero tt when i was 18 going on 19 with one years ncb and ended up paying around £3800 thats was after days of going in between three companies for the best price. After i got throught the first year with no bumps it dropped by nearly 2 grand and that was with adrian flux. Good luck if you do end up paying over the odds (as i did) keep out of trouble and 2nd year will be alot more resonable

Guest joe2987
I want to thank all the people who have replied about my insurance, it's been a huge help, but i am going to go for a uk spec as i can get fully comp for £1150. I only had a deposit of £100 on the j spec so its no huge loss. does anyone know of any good uk spec dealers though? i have found the perfect one but its in manchester and i am in portsmouth
