Fuel gauge / sender

Hi All

Since yesterdays drifting action my fuel gauge is stuck at about three quarters full. This is not related to the amount of fuel in the tank when it got stuck.

Am thinking that the floating arm in the tank has a problem but before I go through the hassle of opening the access panel I'd like to check something out with other members.

Does the fuel gauge remember it's position when the ignition is off? Because mine is in it's stuck position all the time!

Hi All

Haven't had a chance to look at this yet, however I've noticed that the fuel lamp still illuminates when I'm running really low.

Does the fuel lamp use the same floating arm widget on the fuel pump "hanger"? If it does, that means that thing is working and there's no point me undoing that lot again.

The other possibility is that there's a separate low fuel sensor at the bottom of the tank or something that's completely separate. Anyone know?

Cheers!

Found letmeshowyou's excellent thread about changing the pump (http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=57473)

Looks like there IS a separate low fuel sensor as well as the flappy-floating-arm-thing™ (see picture) so looks like I have to take it all apart again.

At least I'll be able to see if supposedly fuel resistant heat shrink has lasted!
