Ordered something on line today from the US using my credit card, just received the following by email

Dear Vollans,

Thank you for your order.

In order for us to ship credit card orders outside of the U.S., we need additional information. Please fax the information below to (Be sure to use the fine mode on your fax machine to ensure that we can read the copy.)

1. A copy of your photo ID.

2. Your daytime phone number, including country and area codes.

3. A copy of your credit/debit card (front and back).

4. A copy of your most recent credit/debit card statement showing the correct billing address. (ORDERS WILL SHIP TO YOUR BILLING ADDRESS ONLY.)

5. Print and fax this email along with your signature, which confirms that you agree to our sales policy and will pay us the amount due.

 WTF, just emailed them back telling them to cancel the order and I'll take my business elsewhere.

PS. That is Mr Vollans, you useless cretins :complain:

Hmm.. having been stung in the past at our business with c/card fraud I can understand them. I think if I were that company though I would just not accept international orders rather than go through all that....just like we don't! :)

I don't understand why they can't simply debit my card, get their money and then post out the goods?

Its because Visa and Mastercard in the US don't insure fraud for non-US customers.

So basically any order they internationally they have to be real sure you are who you say you are as they will lose the money and the goods.

Regards,

Gaz.

I had a call from my bank today, worried that my card details have been stolen so they are going to issue a new card. Not sure if this is a result of my reply to the company that I wouldn't be sending the details they asked for.

I got them to check the transaction on my card and it seems that it has already been approved though.

Seems like a lot of hassle for what was quite a small purchase.
