Limited Slip Diff

Hi all

Quick question.

Had a possible buyer look at my car yesterday - I managed to answer most of the questions, but he asked if it had a Limited Slip Diff!!

Far too technical for me, but does anyone know if they were standard?

Car is a '95 TT Auto Import - model RZ-S I think (ie Full leather, electric drivers seat, but no active spoilers etc)

Many thanks for any help

Mine does.

With a normal diff, when one wheel loses grip, all the torque gets funnelled through the spinning wheel, so you don't go anywhere. With a limited slip diff, torque carries on getting channelled to both wheels even when one is slipping.

Other way round! You can't do proper doughnuts without an LSD as the inside wheel just spins and you just drive round in a circle.

Ahh I see - so what's the best way to doughnut an auto...anyone know? It's not as if there's a clutch to dump...

In need of new rear tyres, so might as well send the old ones out in a blaze of glory :D

on a non lsd car you can get good at doing 1 wheel burnouts :)

with lsd when you want to get back end out it seems so controlable. and its also a quick way to spin car around 180 degrees :)

The UK Auto and JDM auto should be different sized diffs, have you checked Mark??

i did not fit but it works a treat,

he took off the pump that was attatched to the uk duff as it was not needed as the jap car had no diff cooler.

i bought a uk gearbox and uk lsd
