Guest The Flash
Hi all Quick question. Had a possible buyer look at my car yesterday - I managed to answer most of the questions, but he asked if it had a Limited Slip Diff!! Far too technical for me, but does anyone know if they were standard? Car is a '95 TT Auto Import - model RZ-S I think (ie Full leather, electric drivers seat, but no active spoilers etc) Many thanks for any help Flash

Scooter
look at your Chassis plate. across from 'A340E' you will have a letter (A or B) a number (01, 02, or 03) followed by another letter (again A or B) If the last letter is B you have a LSD, if A its a normal open diff. Digsy
Originally posted by Scooter not ALL auto's have a LSD as standard (like the manuals) but some do........ Mine does. With a normal diff, when one wheel loses grip, all the torque gets funnelled through the spinning wheel, so you don't go anywhere. With a limited slip diff, torque carries on getting channelled to both wheels even when one is slipping.

SimonB
Originally posted by Chase I've got a LSD on my auto GZ as well. I'm sure it stops doughnut fun... Other way round! You can't do proper doughnuts without an LSD as the inside wheel just spins and you just drive round in a circle.

It's not as if there's a clutch to dump... In need of new rear tyres, so might as well send the old ones out in a blaze of glory
