Hello to all

Just bought a 94 twin turbo manual supra import

I have one question for now i am looking to change the speedo clocks from the japanese in kilometers to mph. Is this possible because the speedo only reads to 180 kph

First of all get some pics of the beast up!!

You can buy an new dial (some on ebay) that you can stick over your dial which reads mph or you can get a delimiter which will delimit your top speed (obviously) and convert your speedo and odo to mph.

Think most of the guys on here use the thor version.

Yeah go for the Thor, I bought the HKS one and I get all kind of warning lights going off because of it  Also stay weeeeeeeeeeeeellllllll clear of the cheap ebay ones unless you want your warning lights looking like christmas! :D

Oh and :welcome: by the way

Thanks for the replies

The reason for wanting to change the speedo is because it only reads 180 kph

There is a stick over dial but only reads up 120mph and the car is capable of much more and would like an accurate reading

What is the thor version

Cheers SteveR

Would not be confident to do this myself was hoping to buy a new speedo and get it fitted

Assuming it is now, it would still be limited to 180kph (112mph) if you did that. It's not a hard job, if you're comfortable with chopping wires. If you were nearer I'd offer a helping hand but you're not. Are you going to JAE?

ave been told the car was derestricted

Only one way to find out...

Bit odd to delimit it and not convert it, unless the delimit was done in Japan. Eitehr way it'll still go round (off) the standard speedo face, which is a bit.... pointless/useless.

I think i will go to a garage and see if that is the case

There is a good high performance car garage on the island

The last owner had a cat removed and a stainless steel exhaust fitted and seems genuine enough

If you fit a DSC (digital speedo converter) as per SteveR's excellent write up you can use the same speedo and dial, and just change the KM/H legend to M/H on the dial.

(as indeed can be seen on Steve's speedo in this photo)
