Coolant flush advice

Recommended Posts

The rad on my Supra has seen better days I'm going to be replacing it shortly with a Koyo effort. The rad was filled with just water when I got it  and as a result it's now a rusty brown colour.

When I fit the Koyo I'm wanting to give it a proper thorough clean out and get rid of all (or as much as humanly possible) of the rust in the system.

Whats the best way of going about it? Are the rad cleaners you can buy worth using or a waster of money.

Any help would be uber appreciated :)

i would probably suggest to just take a top hose off and a bottom hose off and attach a garden hose to one or the other and turn it on high and leave it until it runs clear, as for the cleaners im not sure if they are any good.

good luck mate cheers Andy.

If you do use tap water to flush it out, make sure you flush though a gallon or two of ionised water or any cheap ethylene glycol based coolant prior to filling it up properly. You don't want any normal tap water left in the system.

PS: No need to use expensive Toyota coolant, any ethylene glycol coolant is fine.
