mikeyb10supra
Does anyone have any experience of these cars......im seriously weighing up my options after landing a new job and maybe moving away from the jap scene at some point Love the look of this one http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/196855.htm

RedM
Not very good as daily drivers but I'd have one for a dry weather, weekend car.
outatime
I considered one, but ended up going for the Corvette. The build quality is even worse than Corvette, and the handling isn't best but there is something about them. I think my C5 is wider than the Viper, but they are both big cars on the smaller roads here. Don't be concerned about LHD, you soon get used to it. Pete
Fantastic - if it's something you've always wanted and can afford it...then do it! If it's not your cuppa then sell it. I wouldn't have thought you'd lose much money on it over a year.
Dragonball
Talk to Rob at Likwidart He has one - but says the supra is far better for daily driving as the Viper is very agricultural and 'full on'

JohnA
35 grand is a lot of money for a 7 year old car that only cost double that when new. 50% depreciation in 7 years, what does he thinks he's got --- I bet he paid less than that as a third owner. Don't fall for the Viper hype, this is not even one of the latest ones and just too expensive for what it is. £20K would be more like it, but rarity, hype and bullcrap mean that it will probably go for over £30K. A fool and his money are soon parted, as they say...
wkdtime
500HP and 500 lbs/ft Torque from an NA engine??? Is that possible (refering to the torque figure being so close to the BHP figure)
Daston
The viper has always been a good car and one of the few great american cars. I would love one but I dont like LHD. If you want it get it however as Clarkson said "Its like knowing your best mate who is a real laugh also likes to kill people with axes.....you find that your never able to relaxe." "This car should have a warning 'turn this key and it will kill you'"

RedM
I got to borrow a Viper recently. I've handily quoted from the thread it was in. The Viper thing then. I've been a fan of the Viper for years. I loved the look of them and heard they go pretty well too. It's one of my 'dream cars' and I had an opportunity to buy one. A very close friend of the family is selling his and gave me the option to buy it. He also gave me it to drive for a couple of days (no more than 200 miles driving though) and I took it to work, the shops and out for a drive locally. I took it on the Mway (fun) and into the countryside (not fun) and in traffic and urban driving it's well, just a bit too much for someone who wants the car experience without all the attention. It's completely the wrong car for a daily driver. It's lairy fast but very twitchy on the roads around here. It drove me mad in just a day. Admittedly it rained a bit earlier this week which is a pretty good way of testing it TBH. We don't have a lot of good weather but even when the roads were dry it just felt ready to dive for a hedge at any opportunity. It was too big in traffic and the LHD was a nightmare although I'm sure one could get used to it. Fuel economy was rubbish and I couldn't park it anywhere. It sounded awesome and really did go like stink. Like I said though, it is a 'dream' car and I couldn't imagine driving it every day or parking it up ungaraged. So it went back. Also the scary loan I would have had to take out had something to do with it. So that's another one off the list until I win the Lottery.
Nic
I drove my friends Viper, it was the earlier model though, it basically felt like a glorified kit car with a frikin great engine strapped up front. Build quality was not great and the soft top and windows leaked like a b*st*rd. It was pretty quick in a straight line and sounded great, but the steering was on a hair trigger, lose your concentration or take your eyes off the road for a second and you will be off the road seriously dead. Exciting to drive, but I couldn't live with one.

I'd say it was a must-have to make it even remotely driveable.

Daston
For me it was either a Viper or Ultima I am going for the Ultima as its more suited for our roads and I wouldnt have problems parking it in a car park.
grahamc
honestly though, for that sort of money, I would be considering an everyday comfortable car to get to work and commuting, etc. and then a "lively" weekend car...

I'd say it was a must-have to make it even remotely driveable. The one I drove was sold a few months later, to the owner of a garage who bought it for his 21 year old son (this was in Germany). Shortly after the kid hit a tree and was killed.

Apart from the pot holes and speed bumps! Wouldn't have problems parking? Have you been in one? Rear visibility is naff all!
Wez
They are slower than my Supra but sound amazing One of my best plays yet, put up a good fight too, just not good enough. My passenger really enjoyed it.

It has more ground clearence than my supe. However accourding to the write ups the way the mirrors are posisioned lessens the blind spot. Failing that I'll just push it. However it is british
Thorin
It is when you've got 8 litres capacity! Or 8.3 litres with the newer ones!
