accent
Hey all, my name's Lewis and I'm from Ayrshire. I haven't got a Supra yet but I really, really want one and hopefully I'll get a Mk.IV within a few years since I'm only 19. I have been driving for 2 and a half years, still drive the same car I did when I passed, a Fiesta, partly modded. By the way I hate boy racers, especially the ones in Corsas, Clios, Saxos etc. so I want to get a more respectable car than a Fiesta ASAP! Unfortunately I don't have much cash at the moment as I'm a student, but thought I'd join and no doubt will be asking loads of questions in the future! First one I'll ask just now: When is a realistic age to get a Supra? Thanks everyone!
Ian W
Welcome to the club mate, there's a few of us around Glasgow and in Ayrshire so try and get yourself along to a meet if you like (jap car meet on this thursday near kilmarnock btw) Some members have a supra at your age by the way, the biggest stumbling block will be money! accent
Thanks, I'm from Kilmarnock! Well I'd be a bit hesitant about going to a jap meet in a 1.3 Fez lol but thanks anyway. I'll have a look and find out where this meet is exactly. I'm always at the cruises in Kilmarnock by the way, 2nd Saturday of every month at Homebase car park. There are a few Supras I see going about, like a Red kitted IV, plate ** RAB. Also there's a couple of silver IVs, one has large black jap writing on its' sides. There's also a stunner up at Falkirk way that's purple with a black bonnet, no spoiler. mmmmm! Yeah you know what they say, it's not just buying it, it's maintaining it, tax, insurance, petrol... Eve
I waited patiently to turn 25 so that insurance was at least reasonable...thought about an N/A? You should come along to a meet, we are a friendly bunch There is another meet in Ayr August 4th that will just be Supras, check the Scotland forum for details. Welcome btw! My Fez has those awful lexus lights but it doesn't have any back-boxes or anything, and I don't speed, do donuts etc. I love the look of Mk,IV Supras! Ideally I would like a TT, Aerotop and manual, although I hear you can't get aero on manual so I might have to go with auto. Colour-wise I am determined to get the same Lamborghini Diablo Candy Pearl Orange Paint in TFATF, along with similar stuff to the one in the film. If an NA would make a big difference to costs then I would consider it first. Thanks all for the welcome.

Aerotops are auto's generally, unless you can find one with a manual conversion. A TT, Manual Aerotop must be the rarest of rare things unfortunately!! Welcome BTW..... H. accent
What? What do you mean? That would be my ultimate goal though, I'll take any Mk.IV at first!
Eve
Get out now. Joking, n/a should make a significant difference to the insurance i would think. Try getting a couple of online quote. The F&F Supe is great in a film and maybe as a show/toy car but not a daily drive...

The F&F Supe is great in a film and maybe as a show/toy car but not a daily drive... lol i'd get quotes for both an n/a and a TT but make sure they're quoting you for a mkiv supra and not a mkiii. The F&F supe is just a bit chav when on UK shores and was even pushing it in the US lol stick to a stock coloured supra and you'll do well mate. accent
AH so when you say chav you mean TOO nice looking The best deals I'm getting on confused.com is around the 3k mark, but that isn't phoning around or anything, and that's the GZ TT Aerotop. Also many aren't quoting since it's online and not over the phone. Here's a few pics of my car btw: Yeah a white supra would be nice, white alloys a must as well. Eve
Also many aren't quoting since it's online and not over the phone. I had the same problem and just aged myself a bit to see if that was it. Should be able to get an n/a quote online. Try Tesco, they were the cheapest for me.
accent
The N/A UK model is over 5k, many unable to quote for my age and for "my details". There must be something I'm telling them that they do not like. Oh well looks like I'll have to wait 3 or 4 years or more yet! By the way I'm a good photographer so if anyone wants pics of their car, please say so. I've took hundreds at cruises before and everyone says how good they are. If anyone wants pics taken at any of the local meets coming up then give me a buzz. Would also just like to say people have some sweet Supras here! Guigsy
forget about confused.com or most of the big insurers. your car will most likely be an import when you get it. go for a specialised insurer. confused gave me 3000 4000 quid quotes with sky it was a bit over 1000. but i am 24. good luck with your search. and make sure you buy a good one and dont jump at the first one you see
