CarlT67
I have had my TRD with carbon wing for about 2 months and always cleaned the car on a weekly basis, just body shampoo and dry and polished it every 3 or 4 weeks. I have noticed on the top surface of the wing it is starting to cloud over, looks like its in the lacquer...? At first I thought it was moisture or something which had got in thought the end of the wing during cleaning or something. Is there a special technique to cleaning or something I can use? Thanks Carl
Pete
I think this is systematic to the manufacturing process whereby the top clear layer and the C/F aren't properly sealed?
MRX
Noticed mines gone cloudy too...
bondinho
The carbon bonnet on my old 200sx did this and eventually turned a horrible yellowy colour. Convinced me not to get carbon parts again
Ric
this is one of the reasons i wont get any carbon bits for exterior panels, bonnets etc, you just cant get a 100% perfect product which stays perfect
Angarak
Its the UV light that does it. When you make a 'bling' carbon composite, if the gelcoat used is not UV stable, you can add a UV stabaliser, however if you dont mix it well enough, or use enough the gelcoat will go cloudy/milky over time due to UV exposure. CarlT67
So know way of prevention or back to black etc....? Seems to only really notice in bright light, but when its wet and dull, like now then the carbon is nice and black.
SupraStar 3000
Carbon fibre seems very inconsistent in finish. The weave on my TSII hood looks ok but the varnish (top coat) is very poor. My TRD wing blade and Eyelids are perfect. TIP: autoglim glass cleaner works good on carbon fibre parts

CarlT67
i laquer my carbon brings it back up.. How do you mean, rub the current lacquer down with a fine wet and dry, then spray lacquer over the top. What lacquer do you use, just a tin of ol' halfords best...? CarlT67
Cool, yea I would be very interested on what his method is....! I should imagine he does rub it down, as above mentions the cloudiness coming form the underneath..
