RedM
When you get the dreaded squeak etc it's the actual pulley that needs replacing, right? So why can you not just buy that bit on it's own? Why all the metal gubbins attached to it?
RedM
This is the drive belt tensioner that I'm on about.
merckx
You cannot buy just the pulley from Toyota, even if you could get it elsewhere it's probably good practice to replace the whole unit anyway.
Jake
You can just replace the bearing in the pulley. You need a press though.
RedM
So not too big a deal if you just replace the pulley?
Jake
Replace the pulley or the whole thing, it's a cakewalk either way.
RedM
Replace the pulley or the whole thing, it's a cakewalk either way. Cool. Anyone want to buy the metal bit then?
Gamer
IIRC MVP also sell an aftermarket wheel for that pulley if you did not want to replace the whole unit. But I do not recommend purchasing from them at the moment due to lack of communication / poor customer service towards myself recently.
uk-rich
But I do not recommend purchasing from them at the moment due to lack of communication / poor customer service towards myself recently. have they taken a turn for the worse ? they used to be great
Gamer
95% of my dealings with MVP have been fine. For some reason the last one was unsatisfactory and communication has ceased at his end. I sent two mails regarding the problem and have received nothing back. I will not send another, I will also not send my hard earned money or recommend them to my friends or acquaintances until I hear something. They are not the only candy store on the block. VIL
Not wanting to hi-jack the thread but where do people recommend getting an aux belt and tensioner from? I am going to be replacing mine soon.....
merckx
The aux belt isn't cheap when bought from Toyota, the Gates belt is popular and I've heard you can get it from Halfords. Tensioner from Toyota. 3rd post down http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=45076&highlight=gates+fan+belt
