Chiefgroover
FFS where are all the experts? Not being used to jap import Supras I came across this under the drivers seat. Its not on a UK spec, or I dont remember it on mine. One side looks like an aerial connection, but what it actually does I dont know, perhaps a diversity switching device for the aerial in the back window? All I need is one person to say "its a whatever - for whatever" not the usual forum smart ass load of shyte that this places is notorious for, keeping many former and very valuable members away. AS you lot are aware i have been buying a selling a load of parts recently, and without exception EVERY person I have spoken to is sick of the tacky chavy attitude. It's lost loads of members and its not hard to see why. Too many people trying to up their post count. Yes I could sit and go though the factory manuals, but being on a very tight schedule to completly rebuild this car from a shell by the end of the month I think i am right in using my membership fee to ask questions that saves me time. JustGav
I remember when I stripped my supra, there was two aerials one ran up the window, I remember a unit similar underneath the drivers seat. My initial assumption would be either something to radio or the alarm.
Nic
Under the drivers seat? I thought that was the passengers seat. Quite right, it is under the passenger side, I missed the 'drivers' seat bit. Nothing on EPC under driver's seat as far as I can see, so may not be factory fitted or possibly Toyota optional part.

Easy Tiger! You are asking for help mate and whilst there may be plenty of smart-arse replies you can rest assured that if someone knows they would tell you. When you add a bit of a rant like that it really puts people off helping. I know this isn't related to your original post and apologies if this annoys you more but I think you might get more constructive replies if your method of asking for them was more constructive. Pete
Curious object. Looks a bit home made the way it's cut at the top of the metal there? Not seen anything like that on my three MkIVs. Will it open up? Chip ID may help determine its purpose.

Pete
wot a stuck up arse Not really - I sympathise. He did request that he wanted expert replies only and people should respect that. Proper technical discussions around here are sadly few and far between nowadays.

Jake
.. Ah! Another one of those! A few folks have found them things under their driver's seat. Nobody seems to know for sure what they are though. Darren suggested it might be an RF Modulator (what ever that is) I couldn't find the post from Matt Harwood that I was thinking of but I did find these: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=106163 http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=109968 Not much help, I know
carl0s
"Amplifier Assy, Stereo Component" So it's an RF or Audio amp. If it says Fujitsu TEN on it then it's guaranteed to be audio related anyway.
Chiefgroover
Jake, as always thanks for trying, one of the forums best members. HI Carlos, I have checked it for makers names but there is none there. As I am trying to loose the stock q/panel aerial the reason for asking was to do with a decision I have to make in regard to if I keep the rear window aerial - not great on its own - but if i use in in a custom diversity setup perhaps good reception may be possible?. If I think there is any hope of such an invention i will get my mate to try and make something up, but he is in Spain for a few days so I am trying to get ahead as time is tight on this project. Tech threads are tech threads, IMO it should stay that way, as with for sale ads, turning them into a debate is wrong, there is a place for that.
