It's not that bad if you use a pump to get the new oil in - I bought one from the local motoring shop. I posted something about it a while ago. Oh, and make sure you use the correct oil from Toyota, and undo the fill plug before you undo the drain just in case you can't get it undone, otherwise you'll be stranded with no gearbox oil.

I tried to get a pump for filling the gearbox with the new oil. the bloke at the local car shop didn't even no they existed!

I bought a 5 foot length of clear plastic tubing (B&Q), pushed one end in the filler hole and ran it up against the side of the car and fitted a funnel in the end. Just gently filled it this way, worked a treat.:)

The part number for V160 gearbox oil is "08885-01306"

£30.95 per litre

You'll need just less than 2 litres

Mine's a funny plastic cylinder pump, it pumps air or fluids. It looks like a kids toy, but is very handy. I couldn't find any hose of the right thickness or I would have probably done it that way, just popped into the local motor place and saw it on the shelf!

Very good tips.

I hate getting oil in my mouth, so have given up sucking it thro' a pipe. (And that was for pleasure lol !)

So who wants to inform us of the best oils to use:

In the engine.

In the gearbox.

In the diff.

Im sure Dude know this one but regretably I cannot offer a prize.

[Dude - did you get my PMs? (Ref WI + SBC fitting ?) ]

Have any of you guys had any probs getting this oil. Some of the dealers I went including the ones in Bradford and Leeds said they can't sell it over the counter and that only the workshop are allowed to order it.

Eventually bought it from RRG Salford Toyota who were very helpful, They delayed my order so gave me an extra 1 litre can for free, which is brilliant considering the price of this stuff .

I attatched a length of rubber hose to a plastic bottle which I'd put the oil into in order to squeeze the oil into the gearbox, worked a treat, although a bit slow.

Thats quite a lot of money per litre!!!envy say the Motul Gear 300 oil is good stuff at 12 pounds a litre thats more than half the price of the v160,does anyone use this?
