Drinking Fuel

Do you drive an NA or TT? Any modifications? Have you got a heavy right foot? Has the fuel consumption recently gone up, or has it always been bad?

It could be a worn-out O2 sensor. They cause over-fuelling when they're knackered (AFAIK). There might be a way to test them, but I can't remember what it is. You'd need to search for that.

Can anyone tell me any reasons why my supra is slurping petrol like nobodys business. Not to bad on long runs I do about 20 miles a day 5 days a week and its costing around 50 - 60 quid a week.

That seems a little high but I am afraid these are thirsty machines! I get around 230 miles out of a tank of v-power driving to and from work through traffic (but get a bit of dual carriageway to blast the turbos), get 280 on a longer journey.

Thats harsh, i do the same mileage a week and a full tank would last me about 2 and a half weeks!

Its a TT, and no im not towing anything, theres no hole in the bottom of the tank, and the handbreak is off when I drive... Extras : 1 cat out, (other out after MOT) 4" Stainless exhaust, Apexi Filter, Apexi BOV, Greddy E-01.

When was the Oxygen sensor last changed? Commonest reason for poor fuel economy is a duff O2 sensor.

If yours hasn't been changed for a while (eg. 30K miles), fitting a new O2 sensor should have a big effect on fuel economy and smoothness of your engine.

A bit of reading on the subject here:
