Batgirl
hi everyone, i'm only ever on here when i have a problem and as this is indeed the fountain of experts then please urgently step forward if you can help. I am a girl and in stereotypical girl manner (no offence to other female supra owners) I havent a clue why the following has happened: despite changing a fuse yesterday due to ALL dials suddenly stopping, last night driving home (a bit fast admittedly), the SPEEDOMETER DIAL dropped to zero and the (!) light in the red triangle (sorry not had coffee yet today so even more stupid than usual) came on AND a further yellow/amber light that is on the far right side that of dashboard ie right of steering wheel (its sort (alternator/ battery????) . The car seems to be driving OK but i am worried because i need to drive this morning. the fuse i changed yesterday seemed to fix everything but now instead of the problem being all the dials its just the speedometer .... HELP!! I dont want my car stopping in the middle of the motorway! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANKS Suzie
Ian C
Those lights are sort of good news. It means your car has stored a fault code that should tell you what is wrong. You need to follow the link to fault codes and perform the procedure to read them. Then tell us what number(s) you get Before panicking, relax, it's easy, you just need a bit of bent wire, like a paperclip. -Ian
stevie_b
I can't add anything useful over and above what Ian wrote, but I love your username!
TrickTT
The battery/alternator light is red and under the odo. There are only 3 yellow lights on the right hand side: oil level (an oil can with wavy lines) engine management (looks like an engine) and ABS (the word ABS). It was probably the engine light that came on and like Ian said you need to check your fault codes, but my guess would be "42" which is speed sensor and can also show with a dodgy speedo converter. Aside: On mine there's two oil warning lights (one yellow, one red) and the engine light. But I agree with you about code 42 possibly being the culprit.
