CJ
I have been talking to several contacts in the USA regarding the supply of the AEM ems and the prices being quoted are very, very good. If anyone is seriously interested in getting more information and possibly buying one, please send me a PM. I am also going to post this is the For Sale section. Guest Usmann A
lol- POP, I think bang and two holes each side of the block, sums it better. :-D ***WARNING TO ALL, MEANINGLESS DYNO FIGURES AGAIN*** It was making 740 hp at the wheels, which I can only guess it around 800hp+ @ 34psi on a good size blower. Although it was down to rod bolt failure, so these are a must if you want to thump some serioues power. Why, what boost you running? I doubt you'd need a rebuilt bottom? what you planning? At the moment the car is set up to run 1.4 and 1.7 bar. I am thinking of taking it off the road for the winter and during that time strengthening the bottom end more for future insurance than current need. You of all people will appreciate that some of us are constantly striving for that little bit more power or those extra revs eh? So, my thinking is, why not do the work prior to alleviate the the chamces of it going pop (or bang ).

Guest Usmann A
Yeh CJ, I understand you of course. More power, revs, something along those lines good luck.
CJ
Thanks old bean! Of course, even if I strengthen and upgrade parts and fit an AEM, it still leaves the issue of getting it mapped.
THOR Racing
O.K. AEM doubtees I've just gone and shelled out a few hundred quid on a Oil Pressure guage kit for measuring the line pressure of the auto gearboxes. I'll be receiving this tomorrow and will first attach to my stock auto box and begin taking meaurements. Pete
Ian C
If you can map an AEM with an autobox bolted on I suspect you'll make that outlay back fairly shortly -Ian
Guest Terry S
I will be mapping two and possibly three Auto J Specs before now and Christmas. As yet I can say I have not mapped ANY auto. Loads of manuals. I'm being honest! No point pretending. My 450BHP baby is first Then progressively more and more powerful cars. You know who you are. I will be checking line pressures and will welcome any technical input as to the correct pressures to run in different gears etc etc. Mines a Daily Driver so I cannot F*** that up or I'm stuffed! I am confident that the AEM will work and will endevour to check and double check everything. So lets start a thread on Auto Gearbox Techincal Specifications. and agree on how the box should or is controlled now. Pete Did this ever happen? TLicense
nice revival Terry! Obviosuly this is just speculation, but I'm guessing that as Thor no longer sell any AEM products, chances are slim that Pete got it working right.
Tannhauser
Did this ever happen? I'm not sure when he did it, but Pete has mapped at least three autos with the AEM. One of them is mine, another is John Fisher's. The 'box did feel very different to when the stock ecu was running it: it seemed much more eager to kick down, which I really liked. On a daily driver basis, I found it fine. The shift into first was quite harsh, but not impossible to live with. Also, sometimes when slowing down, the ecu popped it into a lower gear a little bit too readily, but this was a really minor issue. The long term effects of the AEM on the autobox are impossible for me to assess, as the car was only running for a few weeks before the disastrous fuel leak occurred and it will be a while before it's back up and running. I didn't know Thor had stopped carrying AEM - that's disturbing! Just looked at the website and there it is - though they are still mapping them. Cliff Edited to make sense. I was reading old posts trying to get to the bottom of the reputed AEM auto issues. So what's happened??

Alex
Of course you are... it is the season of 'goodwill' Terry?! Whatever... Did you get lost? You seem to be in technical? Has anyone posted the line pressures? As I thought that was the major hinderance...no one knowing what they are?
