RedM
My partner has only just started at a new job so she can't have any time off. This means I have two weeks off which I'll be spending at home! Any suggestions on how to pass the time? Money is in short supply as it's insurance renewal time, MOT time and Tax time with the car also going in for some work. Beginning to think I should have delayed my time off for a bit but it'll be autumn before I can get two clear weeks in!

Ewen
If it was me, I'd go back to work. Seriously, two weeks away from work is hard for me. Or, fossil hunting on the south coast of the Isle of Wight.
ivan
Haven't done that since I were a teenager. No, even earlier. I was too busy on my motorbike then.
RedM
I've thought about it but, as my partner isn't keen on her new job, any holiday she accrues is going to be taken for interviews elsewhere etc. So, even delaying it won't mean we get time off together to go anywhere. michael
I'd cancel the holiday and take it at a better time.
RedM
I'd cancel the holiday and take it at a better time. That's the thing. There will be no 'better' time. Even without the expense of this month I'll be taking the time on my for the most part!
Pete
Read a book. Learn a new skill. Spend a whole day smiling at strangers. Visit an elderly relative. Make a surprise gourmet meal for your lady. Watch Lord of the Rings Extended back to back. Count the grains of sugar in your sugar bowl. Learn all the words to American Pie or another famous song. Practice a song really well that you can impress people with at any future karaoke session. Catalogue all your photos, upload them to Flickr and pinpoint in the world where you took them. Book a massage. Learn a few words in different languages to impress people when out at Chinese, Indian, Greek restaurants. Take a slow bath. Learn to meditate. Go to your local tourist info office and visit somewhere you've not been before. Make some new drinking friends down the pub. Find an all day strip bar. Charlotte
Ooo some good suggestions there Pete. I'm a bit freaked out by the smiling at strangers one though, why would you do that? Martin, haven't you got things that you think you'd do if you had time? Why don't you try to look for another job, you don't like yours do you? Can't you save it until Christmas and mix it in with the public holidays to get more time off? I did that last year and ended up with the whole month off - thinking about it I've only take 1 of my 25 days this year too so might repeat it again Take every Friday off for a month or two.... RedM
Martin, haven't you got things that you think you'd do if you had time? Well, I do need to weather-proof the front door and put some of that cement/grout shite around it. The bedroom door handle needs fixing too. I s'pose if I'm really bored I could always do that single conversion I just never seem to get around to. Why don't you try to look for another job, you don't like yours do you? Already on that. Can't you save it until Christmas and mix it in with the public holidays to get more time off? I did that last year and ended up with the whole month off - thinking about it I've only take 1 of my 25 days this year too so might repeat it again Take every Friday off for a month or two.... We aren't allowed more than ten workdays off in a row. Also, Friday is my busiest day!

Charlotte
What's your favourite thing to do? Mix a bit of that with some jobs you need to do and you'll be sorted.
garetheves
Sign up to loads of free dvd rentals on line and order loads of films that you normally wouldnt watch cos the missus doesnt like them. Buy a really indepth game for PC or console. I did both the above when off for a week and it flew by. The game was Zelda on the Wii.
