Not that I'm cynical or anything, but is it all possible there is a connection with these two things. It would certainly give the PM a good start to tighten up things and ramp up some military activity. This sort of black ops wouldn't be a first time would it... It also means the likelyhood of further attacks without warning from any intelligence.
