Oops.. forgot the link (must be because my heads thumping, I've developed a twitch in my left eye and some weird ringing noise in my ears - might be time to:

1, turn down the volume a little.

2, put radio 4 on for the shipping summary.

3, go to bed...

Actually I think you're probably too young Rosie.

I used to live with a woman who loved all that happy, hard house stuff and she'd be about 32 now I think.

Rofl, you sound like my mum, all that happy, hard house stuff......:D

I really do think you can be too young now for this type of music, people in their 20/30's seem to be the catchment areas now.....and even though the Hardcore events can be very chavvy at times, on the HH/Trance scene and especially weekenders, the majority can be 30'somethings.......

It was always happy hardcore for me...

For some reason I have a copy of a happy hardcore version of Hey Jude, consider I despise the original (since I had to hear it 10000000 times during my music production diploma, it was my given track)..

I'll see if I can dig it out.

We call happy hardcore

"Chipmunk pish"

As the voices sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks :D

So is anyone gonna post more classic gabba, or is this the slag off HH thread? :D It wasn't all chipmunks you should know.

I used to play Happy hardcore at a club in bracknell and my mate used to play gabber there, this was in '96. Man my life sucks compared to then..... Shall I start a thread about pills? lol

edit - I do agree about the chav element. Though for some reason, 95% of them are the friendliest people in the world at raves.

Jesus. I can't believe some of the shit that passes for music now. That Tiesto rubbish makes me want to kill people. And that gabba type stuff, surely that's not even music, is it? Is there money in making random noise like that? It must take them several minutes to knock up that load of bollocks.

I agree, and for the last 10 mins I've been looking for some software, cos fruity loops just doesn't cut it any more! :D

I'm sure I could make something as good as that in half an hour.

Yeah, its easy for people that aren't into it, to say "I could knock that up in 30 mins". Please, please try it. And see what a record label thinks of it. You might make something which sounds similar, to you, but it really won't be.

I tried for years to get a record released, had nearly 10k of studio kit and still didn't manage it. It's no different to me listening to some thrash metal and saying give me a guitar and an overdrive. pedal. If you aren't into a type of music, you aren't remotely in a position to understand how to make it [/soapbox] Don't forget that the macarena tune, was a pisstake, not a serious record.

I disagree. I understand how it's made and can appreciate the techniques used. It's still not proper music to me though.

You remember music, right? You know, with instruments and other old-fashioned stuff like that.

Yeah but music, like all art, is very subjective. I don't deny that you might be able to understand how to make it on some level. But if you don't like something, how can you understand what it is that makes it good, what seperates the great from the mediocre?

For what it's worth I love a huge variety of music, from classical to rock. But my favourite is noisy dance music. It's an aquired taste, like everything unusual. I am a good example of a producer of the mediocre lol, I know how to sample a good sound such as a distorted kick drum, and put a big discordant offbeat stab, with a sample of an old famous pop tune. I play the keyboard too, so it's not like I don't know anything about music. But I can even see myself, that I don't have that extra genius that is required to make something really good. You can take a tune like Now is the time by Scott Brown, and try and say what makes it great. But if you could REALLY do it, you would be producing it yourself and making some money.

Like, I say, if you think you can do it, write a tune and play it to a record label.
