Supra ST Myster
Bit of a long thread Following on from the long thread about how you to get your bank charges back from the last 6 years, i though id give it a go, so rather than sending the letter for the bank statements i just rang them up (Barclays) and ask for them, they said ok it will be with you normally 6 days but can be up to 14days, So left it and nothing turned up after 14days so rang them up again and they said there is a back log but please allow another 2 weeks, ok i said Sure enough after 2 weeks, nothing, rang up again and they said yes we can see they have not been sent, we will re oder it and it can be 14days, so i started getting the hump with them and said thats no good as i can assure you it will be the same after 14days, said i want it sorted today, so she said hold on, waited 5mins, and said it will have to get faxed to that department to see whats happening and can take 3 days, again said sorry thats no good, not heard of a phone?? So she said ok, hold on, held on again for another 5mins, and then i was actually speaking to the manager! He said is it becasue you want to reclaim the charges so i said yes, so he ok, HE will start the process for me and i dont have to do anything, and ring me back in 5mins with a reference number and said that i will get the statements but there is a back log, He rang back!! gave me a reference number and different telephone number, so i left it at that for another 2weeks and eventually got my bank statements! Went through them and worked out how much it was and got a letter today saying they are offering me £1400 and if i accept just sign the paper work and send it back and it will be in my bank in 10days!! Bloody hell, not bad considering didnt have to threaten will all the legal action or do any letters or anything hey, started off by just asking for my statements!! Well chuffed...:)

flukey-lukey
You can log on to internet banking and 'look' at your statements for the past 6 years (with HSBC) I'm going to look at mine and work out how much I'd actually get back and if its worth persuing
Supradan
Is it just the charges for letters when you go over you overdraft you can claim back?

Jezz
I gave my bank way more than the specified 14 days to reply to my final letter threatening court action, so i filed with the county court, paid the £80 to do so, then get a letter from the bank the next day offering me all of the charges back. Guest Geneb
i just called into the hsbc and believe me they are the worse bank for charges. i asked to speak to someone and got my money back, but if you call on the phone you get some pathetic english speaking asian on the phone in bangladesh or some other pisspot place that looks like the arsehole of humanity and the fuckers are like "ok sorrry to lose you. have a nice day"

R3DG3CKO ROB
Oh, man that's an awesome result! I'm with Barclays now as the Woolwich is no more... I wonder how that will work? I've got all my statements and charge letters for the last 6 years so I think I'll be diging them out...
