Max Headroom
We had an ex ship steward in 3 houses where he paid fe*k all in rent. At least she is doing something worthwhile.
DaveK
They need £3M and spent £5.6M on travel. Use Easyjet like the rest of us and fix your own walls. They are a total waste of space.
jamesmark
This just annoys the fuck out of me. I really cannot stand the royals. They say that they bring in millions of revenue for the country but look how much it cost to pay and keep the feckers. However I have admit the alternative (president rule) is not appealing. Charlotte
Despite the fact that I don't agree with the whole royal family thing, if it's in need of repairs then I kind of think they should be done. It's an amazing historic building.

Meah, meah, meah. I don't have enough money to pay for my own roof because I have to pay for all my own frocks... meah, meah, meah Man, Man, MAN! neil tt
I think it still has a part in our society, as long as we can get rid of Charles and the Horse:d
grahamc
while they are funding £3 million for wall repair, they can help me fund £250k for my entire house... pay for it yourself, like most other people in this country
merckx
I think the Royal family will bring in significantly more money to the country than that which is used to keep them. I'm not a great fan but they didn't ask to be here in a most unenviable position as our Royal family . I'm sure if they had real power like they used to have we would have more respect! Bobbeh
They have easily enough money to pay for it themselves, so they should.
Pot
I read this after the 'Royal family costs the taxpayer 62p a year' story... But I bet they bring much more than that in tourist income... However, they can pay for that themselves, I don't buy a can of coke from a shop, and then give him a tenner to fix his wall...
grahamc
I'm sure if they had real power like they used to have we would have more respect! that or we lose our heads... what was it.... hung, strung, drawn and quartered... did I miss one?
ivan
I'm sorry, I don't give a monkeys if they bring in more money than we pay them or not. They can afford to pay for their own eff'in repairs - why the hell should I have to? I'm pretty sure I've paid the Govt more than they've paid me in the last 36+ years so I don't see the relevance. And as for "they didn't ask to be here in a most unenviable position as our Royal family"!!! As far as they're concerned it's their birthright. Try taking it away from them and see how they squeal then.
Havard
. I'm sure if they had real power like they used to have we would have more respect! I always thought that respect was earned?? I would respect them if they gave up all their free money, stopped going skiing and actually worked for a living!! Respectomundo!! H.
s3upra
Well i like the Royal family-i think we need more slightly affected, possibly interbred and very eccentric people representing this country. Lets face it our other fugureheads have been(and still are) slimy politicians. On a serious note, none of us seem to have any pride in our country(cue the racist rants!) apart from possibly our consistently lousy football team. So yeah, fix her house! Pabs
We work our a*ses off day in, day out, to afford a half-decent flat/house, live with parents/friends until we can afford anything, and then spend the REST OF OUR LIVES paying for what we have. They are now asking us to spend OUR money on THEIR house(s) while they do f-all to help us with ours???? Wrong wrong wrong if you ask me. I mean, the only thing I actually see the Queen do these days is the speach on xmas day (Which is the same drivel every year) I'm sorry - nothing against them personally - but come on - if they paid for it themselves they'd get a lot more respect from me. ivan
Did you know you can email the Queen? http://www.royal.gov.uk/output/Page3776.asp How about we all send one in telling her to fix her own walls? Who's gonna be first then?
Pot
Who's going to be the first person to open the can of worms when it comes to us having to pay for things that those interested could simply club together and pay for themselvees?...

juanchan
The Royal Family don't actually own Buckingham Palace though, do they? It's owned by "the state", whatever that officially means. Which I guess is why we're footing the bill to fix it. This sort of thing I don't really mind. If the Royal Family disappeared tomorrow, it'd still be a national historic building, as Charlotte said, so we'd still have to foot the bill to sort it out.
