slyspark
Hi! Just wondering if anyone can suggest a reputable company who will inspect a Supra and issue me with a report on it's condition, etc before purchase? I know the AA and RAC offer this service, but it's been suggested to me that in the case of the Supra, neither of these are really the guys to do it - more used to your everyday non-super cars. The car I need to have inspected is in the West Sussex area, so someone round there (or a company who cover this area) is what I'm looking for. Have tried the IVAC (Indepandant Vehicle Inspection Company) but all I get there is an answerphone and so far no callback and I really need to get things moving now! Any suggestions appreciated! Thanks!
Lukeyboy2k
I think the AA and RAC inspections are normally restricted to newer cars also, and as you say they probably aren't the best option. I would recommend you get an experienced friendly club member to go along and inspect with you - they know these cars inside out. I have also heard that some members have had trusted [supra] mechanics go and inspect with them for a fee - this may be a good option. I would offer, but being a relative noob and only ever having driven one supra I don't think I'd be the most useful of people to look over things. chainy
I got the AA to do a report on my car before buying DEKRA import plus inspection cost about £350. I found the report to be very useful and they picked up a few essential and advisable repairs that i made sure that were fixed before i picked the car up. razza
I used VCS for 2 reports on 2 different supras, cost about £175, saved me from buying a lemon, and made me confident about getting the one I did. If you can't find a supra specialist, these guys will notice if it's had crash damage, repairs, oil issues, brakes knackered, etc. etc. none of which I'd notice. If you want more details, i.e. their details and the name of the guy who checked mine out (worth getting the same guy, he's seen at least 2 in very different states), PM me. Chris Wilson
Get a person totally professionally familiar with MKIV's to look at it. I had a Supra in a bit ago with a problem I'd have spotted as soon as I lifted the bonnet, with the engine running. Repair cost about 3K...
