Need some quick advice,Im taking off my rear discs but they wouldnt come right off they are loose, I think I need to loosen my hand brake adjuster so the disc will pass over them. where is the adjuster? I have removed the rubber bung and had a good look in but cant see it. Any help would be greatly apreciated espesially if its quick I also wont to change the brake lines and I have only got today. Digsy
Look again . There should be a toothed wheel inside the bung hole (with the bung hole at the very bottom). You can flip it around using a broad bladed screwdriver.
BOB B
Thanks Digsy, that was quick and spot on, as soon as I had turned it a few times the discs came right off. For anyone else who comes across this thread turn the coged wheel downwards to loosen the pads. Cheers. Bob
Digsy
Glad to be of help. IIRC there's a procedure for re-adjusting after you put them back on. Its something like: 1) Turn adjuster upwards fully until whel cannot rotate. 2) Back cog off "X" notches. I think "X" is 3. Maybe someone can confirm. DuaneT.Turbo
Hi, I've looked through a few threads now but cant solve my problem, I resently changed my offside rear wheel bearing, when i was releasing the nut in the centre of the hub behind the split pin, even with the handbrake on when i was turning it the hub was just rotating with it, i persivered and got the hub off thinking nothing of it. I replaced the bearing, put the hub and handbrake back together again but now realise that the handbrake does not stop the hub from spinning on that side, i think this may have been like it before i even took it apart thinking about the hub spinning whilse trying to undo the nut.. I've tryed adjustin the adjustment cog but its not done anything, the hbu still spins with the handbrake on just on that side.. It looks to me like the cable is a little slacker on that side compared with the other.. Could this be my problem? If so how do i adjust the cable? Rob
Just to clarify, you have the handbrake assembly fitted on both sides, yes? You're not relying on the N/S handbrake only, while turning the hubnut on the O/S as the diff will allow it to turn.

Its nip it up to just the point when the wheel locks then back off 8 notchs.
DuaneT.Turbo
Yup, handbrake is all together on both sides. D Just to clarify, you have the handbrake assembly fitted on both sides, yes?
