Help, girlfriends 21st birthday present???

A friend of mine once bought his girlfriend (for her 18th) 'the right to name a star' :D She got a certificate thingy stating what she had named it (I think it was named after her actually).

IMO it was a bit lame and I don't think she was really pleased with it tbh. This reply is probably no help to you whatsoever :D

Good luck! Women are difficult!

I once bought an ex a "Sponsor a Fish at an Aquarium" that we'd been to. She was a bit nutty about sealife in general and she absolutely loved it :D. It was by far the easiest present I bought for that birthday too.

Lovely looking girl. Get her nothing and then say 'with looks like yours you've already got waht every other woman wants'. And if she's not a) sick on you, or b) pushing you out of the door quickly then you're in!!

Think you should do a painting of her for that comment mate. :)

Looking at that picture some authentic real hair eyebrows? :D

Oi! She has eyebrows, they had just gone blondish due to all the Florida sun (pic was taken at the end of holiday last year).

I think i could get away with that, but she wouldnt exactly be happy!!!

My colleague at work is a fantastic portrait painter. If you like I could ask him if he fancies the idea of doing something for you. All he would need are some decent photos.

Local too!

Thanks for the offer mate, will give it some consideration as im still not sure on the whole idea of a painting. I cant see how she is going to want a picture of me on here wall, and she is one of those girls that doesnt think shes "got it".

Don't they all!

Well he can paint either you, her or both of you. It would certainly be different, and he's very good too!

Very good at painting portraits of pets too.

Anyway, give it some thought.

Have you not thought about taking her away for a weekend? Ireland is nice and you can get flights for cheap then get a nice house/hotel to stay etc. What sort of thing are you both into? Maybe try hot air balloon ride with champagne lunch etc?

Sky diving?

Or Mc D's & a trip to blackpool?:p

A gold locket with a picture of you or both of you in it....or a professional portrait of of herself/or both of you? if she enjoys travelling, some really good quality luggage, maybe monogrammed? How about a driving experience? :trampoline: try: everymanracing.co.uk 01455 841 670 they start from £99 the mini experience is awesome good fun, or karting? some jewellery + pampering treatment/full professional makeup? (she's a pretty girl but it would be a lovely treat) A cosy weekend for the two of you away? lots of offers available on short breaks, you often get one night free if you book two ;) If she likes any sport/band get tickets and make a short break of it?

As long as you show a little initiative she'l be happy. tbh hun you cant go wrong with jewellery. She can wear it as a reminder of you....and if she dumps you she can pawn it :p lol!!

  • 4 weeks later...

how about do the usual out for a meal stuff and present her with a bottle of champagne..... not one of your cheapo types, more Krug vintage stuff.... and have the bottle / box engraved. That can then be opened on your wedding night ( I'm being optimistic here!:p) or some other very special occasion....... and its also a nice momento

You could always get engaged, just like 'Supraless' Dave and Kate did on her 21st birthday recently ;)

Unless you've done that already! :)

Thats not a bad idea. Talk about killing 2 birds with one stone :)

I think some professional photo's would be nice and a nice frame for one of them maybe.

Alternativly......what about suspension so its a nicer ride in your car. I got my mrs engine bling one year, not sure if she was that impressed though :D

Lol, i did consider it...but firstly i dont have £1k for a ring, plus we both still live at home so want to do it properly...house together, then get engaged and be able to put a date on the wedding. Its just impossible to buy at the moment given the housing marking + not so great wages = No house...plus having a supra doesnt help.

Professional photos sounds like a good idea, just got to cleverly drop hints to see if she would like that...given shes camera shy and doesnt think she take a good photo.

Engine bling is a good one, given she has a 2003 MR2 roadster...but she wouldnt appreciate if as 21bd present...."its got to be special", nightmare woman.
