UK turbos on VVTI

Anybody know if I can use the manifold, piping and turbos from the UK spec car on my 98 VVTI?

They'll fit, if you replace everything from the head to the 2nd decat.... but I seriously wouldn't do it. Why would you replace those excellent ceramic turbos with some lagtastic, lower torque UK ones?

Also, the VVTi ECU is mapped for the faster spool and extra torque you get from the ceramics. I don't know how well the stock VVTi ECU would cope.

Thanks, Also, while I'm here, does an HKS 264 exhaust cam from a normal TT-supra fit into the VVTI?
Yes.

...get some top end perhaps?:D

Not everyone sees the funny side of spitting ceramic bits from the exhaust under full boost.;)

Better Top End?? Have you driven a VVTI? No, I'm betting. The VVTi system is designed to give them more top end.

Also, the VVTi turbo's are younger.

I wouldn't do the swap, you have to replace everything from the manifold to the 2nd decat pipe.

Well, basically I know someone who is upgrading and he's selling the entire lot required (including fitting). (See pic), which is why I was considering it. Thanks for all the answers, I guess i'll let them slide by. Should I get the 264 exhaust cam? Would it give me any benefit with my setup?

Agreed.

Personally I'd just stick with what the car should have had, if its stock turbos you're talking about. Thats how it was desinged to run with.

Yeah, with used prices being low as they are, I can't see much point in 'frankenstein' combos. The results are just not worth the aggro of trying to make bits fit.

But then again I tend to look at it from the cost-effectiveness point of view.
