juanchan
Having never experienced any of this sort of thing before, I assume that they are hoping to get your bank details as and when you transfer any money onto their "agent"?

Homer
Having never experienced any of this sort of thing before, I assume that they are hoping to get your bank details as and when you transfer any money onto their "agent"? I think the trick is that the money appears as 'cleared' in your bank account, but is then withdrawn several days later once that bank finds out it's a fake or stolen cheque and the money has come from an innocent persons account. IMO, there is no need to use cheques or bankers drafts these days, especially when CHAPS transfers can be done instantly. For the sake of the £25 charge it's worth it for large money transfers. These cannot be easily faked and are (normally) guaranteed by the bank.

ivan
They pay you more than the asking price. You give the "agent" the car. You send the excess money onwards to another account (or give it to the agent). A few months later the bankers draft/cheque bounces... What do you think? Just reply to the email telling them to F off!
JohnA
.. Just reply to the email telling them to F off! Nah, just ask them to pay via Paypal and see how they react.
