SMiFFAD
Does anyone have a problem with water going through said vents, onto the fan belt and making it squeek like a stuck pig? Every time it rains i have to drive to work with it squeeling, i know its not doing any damage (its not slipping as such its just where it makes contact with the pullys, like wearing trainers on a shiney floor!) but its really embarresing as it sounds to joe public as if my cars about to blow up. Ive though about adding a bit of "guttering" under my main vent, to channel the water away, any other suggestions and am i the only one with this problem? Tricky-Ricky
I made a vent on the bonnet of my old S14 and had to make up a drainage arrangement to stop this, its not to hard providing you have the space.
SMiFFAD
at least it seems im not alone! might have to get busy at the weekend with some old yogart pots and fairy bottles, blue peter stylee Suppose literrally a streight bit under the bonnet just to pass the rain over the belts and down behind the rad would do the trick... My carbon bonnet on the sx never did this, but it was a bit further forward than the belts

toyotasuprauk
I had this problem so went back to a standard bonnet In this country that’s probably a good idea, especially today!
SMiFFAD
I had this problem so went back to a standard bonnet If i had the standard bonnet, id have put it on the day i got the car, the GRP ones in a sorry state, me and a friend had to hack the underside of it up and re-glass it to get it to stay attached to the car (think its flown up on someone before and been badly repaired - not on my car luckaly!) Have to go with what ive got for now though Spose i could always cover the centre vent. Black bit of plastic on the inside you wouldnt even notice! SupraStar 3000
I have a Top Secret II hood and havn't had any issues with sound. Always seem to have a very dirty engine bay though which is a pain. After driving home from Santapod on Sunday I had a bit of a play with a S2000 a few miles from home and after braking hard had some steam coming up from the engine bay. This was due to water rushing down the vents and hitting hot engine parts.

juanchan
UK bonnet here too. The belts squeal when cold, but it disappears when up to temp.
SMiFFAD
yes mate do you have any with it open? to see if you can make drain tray;) oh i seeeeeee *runs out with camera* riiiight then... 3 photos, one from the side and top showing where the water drops (right on the belt) and one of the bottom of the bonnet, note the lovely fiberglassing job, as the latches were about to fall out when i got it!! Simplest way as there isnt a lot of room looks to be to block the middle long vent up - after all its not critical to the running/performance of the car. paul mac
have some pretty big vents with no probs i did fabricate channels that divert the water to the outside of the bonnet, it still runs in the engine bay but approximately next to the air filter (wing side) and on top of the battery on the other side
