jim_supra
Due to the Monsoon that has fallen upon alot of us, the roads round my neck of the woods have gotten very bad, and alot of places are flooded. making my journey home very difficult this evening! Is anyone else in this situation? It has already caused problems with my car, not least the fact that the aerotop leaks and the seat is soaked:d Anyways, I was Driving through town at lunch, in an area that I didn't think could be flooded, and it turns out it was very flooded! I couldn't turn round as the road was quite narrow, so the only thing I could do was drive on. I put my brave face on and set off. All seemed to be going well untill the water started getting deeper and deeper and the water started going over the bonnet and up the windscreen:blink:. I thought it best at this point that I shouldn't stop, and was fully expecting the Supe to cut out, but it didn't, yay! and out I emerged from the other side still running. What it did do though was lose the engine undertray and my numberplates (which were stuck on:rolleyes:) I am now dreading the drive home tonight. AndrewOW
I've heard that even though a Supra is quite low to the ground, the location of the 'stock' air intake etc makes it possible to drive in relatively deep water, as in one of RedM's threads recently. I won't be trying it though!
Rob
Further up the road I did get to drench some school kids. Which was nice. You evil man (is secretly jealous). Beware, there's a maximum £1000 fine for doing that.

The water was flowing over the bonnet. If i had stopped the water line would be close to the bottom of the headlights if not over! I've just been told that all the roads into the town where I live are closed.

There is no way I'd take the Supe through a foot of water, nevermind 2. Lucky man!! Did it not come through the door seals then? H.

I had no choice but to carry on, cars behind me and they didn't wanna budge and not enough width in the road to turn round because of parked cars. To be honest I haven't checked if any water came through the doors. Didn't even occur to me.

jim_supra
The flooding round here has already claimed a victim. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/humber/6237308.stm It doesn't say he died on the article, just heard news of it on the radio. C5 SUP
Jim, Hull is a nightmare. Had to drop my mum off at work and had some lakes to go through myself,,,, didn't come over the bonnet though, (What speeds were you doing man!!) but the water line did come past the bottom of the door in some parts I reckon, didn't leak though. Kept it very slow.
RobSheffield
Jim If you are VERY lucky, the flooding might wash some chavs out to sea In fact just washing some chavs could be good

jim_supra
Maybe???? Honestly, I really wasn't going fast, as i couldn't tell where the speed bumps were and didn't want to rip my exhaust off (as my car s fairly low with a Nur spec exhaust on it)
C5 SUP
Ok I believe you. Some guy told me not to go any further as my car would stop, showed how much he knew, wasn't half as bad as yours. Have to get to doncaster airport tomorrow as I have to pick somebody up that wants the Supra. Hope the flooding has subsided by then.

RedM
The road outside my work was closed for the day. The dip at the bottom is now a lake with the cars of a few 'adventurous' drivers floating in it. The nearby Pikey camp will have them! It got so bad that the Police were stopping people coming up our road. Even employees trying to get to work. We closed early and when I reached the Leeds ring-road it was flooded in two directions and deserted. Literally not a car to be seen so I took the opportunity to do a donut in the middle of the junction. Weirdest feeling on earth to be alone where there would normally be at least fifty vehicles. The junction of the M1 that I take was at a standstill so went to the next one. HUGE flood there so rejoined the m-way and went south to Barnsley, Fookin' Barnsley and doubled back. We got to our village and within 200 yards of home the road was closed by a flood. About 50 metres of deep water that had also flooded a couple of very beautiful houses. So we doubled back again and finally made it home. I hear the river through Leeds has burst it's bank so, Karl, hope your car is okay. Looking out of our window you can see the occasional car drive through and then drive back again when they reach the flood. Nightmare!
