Fair enough, Personally I would not go near AOsmell with a 10 foot barge pole but that is just me. :)

 

 

I just can't see it being anything at his end unless he has changed some of his settings recently or possibly installed some software. I would look to the local exchange or AOL.

 

 

Si, If you are using a router I would also unplug the power from the wall for 30 seconds then plug it in again then reboot and do the speed test again. Also check the phone line going into the router/PC and into the wall socket to make sure it has not come loose. If the connection is loose you can experience speed reductions/disconnects.

like 'gamer' said, 'AOsmell' is quite a good description of their service. :lol:

I'm not sure who AOL get their lines from but if it's Tiscali there are LLU issues at present - disconnecting and reconnecting helps some people but the best thing to do it follow Gamer's advice and speak to their tech people.

 

You might not even be on LLU :)
