The benefits of age

I've had motorcycles continously from the age of 16 until the beginning of last year (when I was 36). I sold my R1 then because with 2 cars, I was never using it.

I had sports bikes from quite young (GSXR750 when I was about 19) so paid huge insurance for many years.

I just got a quote for a VFR800 - and at my age, it's..... £95. Or £20 more if I want to protect my NCD.

I love being old! :D

Well done mate. I know what you mean, my first 750 cost me £500 to insure in 1980!!

Now sell the VFR, by a GSXR and come and do a few track days:d

I don't own it yet! Going to look at one tomorrow.

I'm not really that keen on balls out sports bikes these days - even for a track. Having had GSXRs, FireBlade, R1 etc. for about 15 years in total I just want something a little more practical that I can use occasionally if the sun is shining.

I just hope I do actually use it. I sold the R1 because I hardly ever did but I miss having a bike.

You can always off load it if you don't use it.

I only do about 1000 miles a year, but not on the road. Too dangerous for me (or I'm to dangerous for it):).

So have to agree with this thread, before I sold it in January, the insurance on my CBR 1100 Blackbird fully comp protected was only £130 (only 36 at the time)

Then again my insurance on the TT is only £480 which I think is very reasonable (was even lower before I declared BPU)

I paid £1400+ fully comp for my CBR600 back when I was at Uni (ouch!)
